The Kaos Krystal: Chapter 1 - The Strange Cub
Tails ambled forward picking up various pieces of the Badniks Sonic was destroying ahead of him. He would stop and look at the larger pieces of debris, and if he was satisfied, he would pick them up. He picked up an arm of a vaguely frog shaped Badnik, and shoved it into the almost full backpack he had slung over a shoulder. Sonic skidded from his position as a ball, and stood up.
"So, just what was the point of this excursion, Tails?" Sonic began tapping his right foot.
"I'm just working on a ro... project. I can't tell you until it's finished, but I still need a lot more parts." Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Here, Sonic can you take these back to the house?" Tails asked hopefully, holding out the bag at arms length. Sonic grabbed it grinning. "See you later, big guy!" Tails would have commented, but Sonic was already miles away. Tails shrugged and jumped, spinning his tails in the air. He wanted to find another Badnik, and have at least one more part for his 'project'. He flew as high as he could, and looked around.
He spotted a large, spider type Badnik, and decided he'd give it a try. He descended rapidly, so he could catch it. He landed a little way of and squatted down, rolling into a ball to copy Sonic's spin dash. He launched himself of the ground and smashed the Badnik to pieces. He stood back. It didn't seem to have worked properly, the Badnik was giving of sparks, but it didn't seem very damaged. "What the..." Tails was rudely interrupted by the spider Badnik exploding in his face.
A little shocked, after being flung backwards, Tails muttered under his breath "o... kay... that doesn't usually happen..." he looked to see if any robotics could be salvaged. What he saw stunned him. The creature that had been trapped in the Badnik, had been a young, fox cub, but the explosion seemed to have altered him. For one thing, he had been fused with two Badnik legs, his normal legs gone. For another, a mechanic arm had replaced his left arm, and there was one other thing slightly wrong with him. He was dark grey, with light grey whiskers, and the tip of his tail and his stomach were the same grey. He looked a little fazed, and didn't seem to want to say anything. Tails began "are you..." the cub gazed at him "... okay?"
The small fox looked like he was going to cry. "I... I... I don't know..." tails walked over to him, and put his arm around his shoulder. "What's your name kid?" "I don't know that either..." "Here, come with me, my friends and I will help you..." tails picked up the small cub in his arms and spun his tails, heading for home at Sonic speeds.
