Random drabble written by my tired brain after a long day. :P

This also happens to be my first Zelda fic, so please no flames. Link and Alfonzo are supposed to be slightly OOC.

I hope you enjoy! XD

I do not own The Legend of Zelda.

"Link!"

The Hylian engineer known as Alfonzo, burst into the room, swinging the door open with a loud bang. A few paintings on the walls wobbled from the impact, but luckily none of them fell. Adjusting his red bandana to fit his head more comfortably, he tromped over to the lump of blankets on the bed, his worn boots clomping on the floor steadily. The oddly shaped lump rose and fell to the beat of a human heart and short breathing was audible from the inside.

"Link, you lazy bum, get up!" the engineer ripped the blankets off the bed to reveal a young boy, maybe 14 or 15, curled up in a little ball. He started shivering immediately and his fingers reached out blindly for the blankets,

"Alfonzo…five more minutes," he grumbled, eyes fluttering lazily.

"Not today, boy!" Alfonzo reached down, grabbed the teenager by the shoulders, and gave him a startling shake.

"Gah…stop!" Link fought to escape the grip of his tutor, only succeeding in fully waking himself up, "Okay, okay," he rubbed the lingering sleep out of his eyes, "I'm awake."

"Good," Alfonzo sternly placed his hands on his hips and peered scolding at the blonde teen, "I'm glad that you're up now because-"

Not one to listen to lectures, Link had already fallen asleep again.

"LINK!" Alfonzo now shook the boy with more violence, "Stop fooling around! Princess Zelda told me that she has something very, very special she wants to tell you and-

"What!"

Alfonzo watched in awe as the young man nearly jumped from his resting place and began to pull out his signature forest-green soldier tunic and triangular shaped hat that drooped when he wore it. Slipping it on over his nightshirt, he proceeded to stretch on his pale blue tights and step into boots of a warm brown color. After fighting world war three with his hair, he managed to get it into an acceptable style, though a few strands stood out here and there. That over with, he capped his head with his green hat and hoped it covered most of the mess. As a finishing touch, he buckled his leather belt with the gold swirl symbol and pinned his most prized possession onto his breast: the engineer badge that Princess Zelda herself had bestowed upon him when he saved Hyrule from Malladus. Flashing himself a knowing smile in the mirror, he scurried over to his washing table where he splashed some water on his face and brushed his teeth vigorously until his body seemed to glow from cleanliness.

After inspecting every detail of his appearance in the mirror, he turned to Alfonzo and gave him a dashing smile,

"How do I look? You think Zelda will be impressed?"

Alfonzo had already given in though, chuckling uncontrollably and face buried in hands,

"I-I'm sorry…it's just…haha…you-"

"What?"

"April Fools!" Alfonzo jeered, tears now falling from his eyes in laughter, "Had you going there didn't I?"

He had been tricked. Alfonzo had tricked him! And in such a stupid, embarrassing way too.

Link just blushed angrily and crossed his arms in a huff.

April Fools indeed.
