Blue's Company
Blue huffed and stared up at the endless black sea that is the sky. The fantastic stars decorated the sky and they all gave the glorious moon company. Admiring the night sky, Blue became jealous of the moon and stars that currently occupied the large sea above. She really wanted some company, but there was nobody to give. Why did the moon and stars get company while she did not?
"Blue?"
Hearing a voice, Blue turned around and was surprised to see Magenta standing there, staring at her with curiosity painting her facial features. Her eyes were colored with interest and her tail was wagging. She seemed highly interested in what Blue was doing out in the night all alone. However, Blue was beginning to wonder what she was doing there. Did she come to deliver some news or did she come to say hi? Either way, Blue didn't want to be bothered unless someone was going to offer some company on this dark, lonely night.
"Hi, Magenta," Blue greeted her through a heavy sigh, studying the other dog. "What are you doing here? What do you want?" she sounded a bit rude, but she didn't care at the moment. She would just apologize if Magenta was offended by her tone of voice. No big deal.
Magenta cocked her head to the side like a cat that had started to become very curious. Her tail ceased its wagging and she put on a pondering expression, eyes narrowing a little. She seemed to examine Blue for a few minutes before actually answering, "I just thought you wanted to go get something to eat with me? Miranda is making pizza and she said that I could have some. Steve and Joe are going to be there too. We'd love it if you joined us."
Blue was silent for a very long moment. Why in the world was Miranda making pizza and offering it to Magenta? Blue always thought that she and Magenta were only allowed to eat dog food and that's it, nothing else. It was very odd and unexplainable, but Blue did not desire pizza at all. She wasn't even famished. All she wanted to do was sit underneath the starry sky and watch the moon, hoping for some company.
"Sorry, I'm going to pass." Blue barked, now turning away from the magenta colored puppy and putting her attention back on the dark sky. If Magenta wasn't there to offer her some company then she could just go back to Miranda's house and devour pizza with Steve and Joe.
Magenta seemed greatly disappointed after Blue's words touched her floppy ears. A sad expression danced along her facial features and she breathed out a forlorn sigh, wondering why Blue was being this way. Was Blue sad? Was Blue angry? Magenta had no clue.
"Is there something wrong, Blue?" Magenta yipped in question, moving closer to the blue puppy and sitting down next to her, now appearing concerned. "Did something happen to make you want to be alone out here in the darkness?"
Blue shifted away a little from Magenta. "No…" she drawled out almost in a weary huff. "It's just such a nice night out. I probably won't ever get any more beautiful nights like this in the future. So, that's why I'm out here. I want to enjoy it."
"So that's why?" Magenta breathed.
"That's why." Blue caterwauled.
Magenta ruminated for a few minutes before nodding her head and getting comfortable right there next to Blue. "Then I shall enjoy it with you," she announced firmly. "I'm sure there will be other nights like this in the future, but I'm still going to keep you company out here."
Blue was surprised. "You are?"
"Yes." Magenta replied.
"Thanks!" Blue yawped.
"You're welcome." said Magenta.
And so, the two puppies, Magenta and Blue, sat underneath the starry sky and watched the moon. They enjoyed the night and enjoyed each other's company.
