Only Human
Alek sat in a shed in Istanbul, hiding from Dylan, Lillt and her Father. The plan was to take place tonight. They were going to free Istanbul and take down the Telsa Cannon. It was baffling. Things were moving so fast!
Alek peered out of the work-out shed, with eyes beyond his age.
The coast was clear.
Sighing, Alek leaned back on the shed eliciting a loud groan from the timber of the shed. Not so long ago, he was in a palace and was learning every day. He had parents.
He smiled sardonically. When will I finally break?
After all, I am only human. He was not like the walkers he piloted from his childhood, cold and stoic.
Suddenly, Dylan popped out.
"Barking spiders, Alek! Whatcha doing out here, c'mon! We gotta get ready!"
A dust filled breeze blew by gently as Alek turned away from Dylan.
"Dylan…..persuade me to go on." He begged quietly.
Dylan's eye bugged out.
"Alek….?"
Alek turned quickly towards him.
"Anything! Please, make me believe life is all people bloody well make it to be! That some happy ending is in my cards?! Make me believe that I can rise out of this mess!?"
Dylan slowly walked up towards Alek a understanding look in his eyes.
"We are both only human, Alek." With a flick of his hand Dylan pulled up his sleeve showing scars on his forearms.
Jagged and thick they were, so full of white flesh and pink flesh seeming to throb in the glistening sun of Istanbul.
"D-D-Dylan…"
Dylan frowned, "When my Da died, I tried to go with him you see. It was not a happy time. Hell, it was full of clart. All you can do is push through and fake till it becomes real.
Remember the blueprints of your old self, so when you break you can fix yourself…."
