I just finished reading The Red Pyramid, and I had a sudden urge to right this. I felt sorry for Set and figured there was more to his action then Rick Roidan let on. Any way, this is based off the vision Sadie had of the feast where Osiris was killed.

And I don't own anything.

Osiris looked down on them all from his throne his wife had stolen for him. A serene smile was plastered on his face as he laughed with friends and family. He didn't notice Set scowling at him from across the room.

As Set watched his brother his scowl deepened. There was no doubt in his mind that Osiris didn't feel any guilt at all about the circumstances of his ascension to the throne. And why would he? Throughout Set's experience with his brother, Osiris had never had any trouble taking what didn't belong to him. Ra's throne (an honor that Ra had meant to pass onto Set) wasn't the first thing he had stolen. He had taken many other things, like…

'My wife,' the bitter thought entered Set's mind unbidden as he watched Nephthys embrace Osiris with a smile on her face. He almost felt guilty about it, but then he remembered Anubis. The son that should've been his, the son he deserved and had every right to. The son who had been fathered by Osiris instead of him. That was one of the few- the only- good thing about being barren- he could always know when his wife cheated on him.

That steeled Set's resolution. He would have his revenge. Even if he was banished or executed because of it, he would have his revenge.

He finally stepped out of the shadows and into the center of the great hall to present his "gift" to the new king. Osiris greeted him with a smile and said, "Welcome, brother. You're late." The playful gibe made Set want to grimace. Instead the desert god forced a smile and replied, "I have good reason to be." then he turned to face the gathering crowd.

'Friends, family. In honor of our king, I have arranged a contest. The winner of the contest shall receive the gift." Set flashed his brother a warm smile and signaled to his servants to bring out the sarcophagus that would trap Osiris and ensure his right to the kingdom.

AN: I guess i should explain why I had Nephthys supposedly cheat on Set. You see, the older version of Anubis' birth Set was thought to be barren. Nephthys really wanted a son, so she disguised herself as Isis and slept with Osiris. I also figuered that an affair would be the first explaination Set would think of when he found out Nephthys didn't want him to meet their son.
