Dear Mr Dumbledore.

Blurb …

"I know I'm not magic or anything, but if my sister gets to go to Hogwarts, then it's only fair that I can come too …" Petunia's letter to Dumbledore, and his reply. (Oneshot Petunia centric DH spoilers!)

Dear Mr Dumbledore,

My name is Petunia Evans, and my sister, Lily Evans, has recently received a letter being accepted into you school, Hogwarts.

But this schools different-you can learn magic there. Lily gets to go and meet new people, learn how to do things we've never imagined before, and it'll just basically be cool.

Lily is lucky that she's magic-she can go. But I love my sister very much, and I will miss her terribly if she goes away. Though I know I'm not magic or anything, but if my sister gets to go to Hogwarts then it's only fair that I can come too … we've been together for so long, and I have to protect her. She's my little sister.

I know the person who came to explain to Lily said that she's what's called "muggle-born" and that she has powers, and I don't, but surely I could learn? Even if I have to work twice as hard as everyone else, I'll be happy to just be able to go.

I would very much appreciate being sent a letter from Hogwarts. I would love to go and I'm sure you can never have too many witches, right? Please-I would love to go to Hogwarts. I would love to be a witch and I would love to be able to learn with Lily.

If you could answer quickly-the train leaves on September the first!

Yours Sincerely,

Petunia Evans.

Dear Petunia,

What a lovely name, reminds me of the flower. Its uses in potion making are fascinating.

It was lovely to hear from you, and I can't say how glad I am that you express a desire to become a witch like Lily (Another flower name! I've always liked Lilies). However I'm afraid it's just not possible.

You Petunia are what we call a muggle-you have no magic blood. I know you said you would work very hard, and I admire your spirit, but I'm afraid that no matter how hard you tried; magic just simply would not work for you.

It's very unfortunate that you have to leave your sister, but you could see her at Christmas time, and send letters to her-I'm sure she'd love to know what's going on at home while she's at Hogwarts.

Again, it's unfortunate that you can't come, but think about the positives-you know of the magical world, and even if you can't do magic, you'll always be a part of it. Be thankful of Lily-when she's finished school, she'll know all sorts of spells-you'll never have to tidy your room again!

It was wonderful to know that you express such a desire to be a witch, but I'm afraid it wouldn't work. I'm dreadfully sorry about it.

I hope to meet you someday-you seem like a nice person, not wanting to be separated from your sister.

Yours truly,

Professor Albus Dumbledore,

Headmaster of Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry.

Petunia crumpled up the letter she had pulled off the owls foot with tears in her eyes-she was so sure that the letter would be full of apologies that her letter was missed and she'd be let into Hogwarts right away-not-not this!

She threw the letter in the bin. Well, if this was how they played, then she didn't want to be a part of this game. Lily could go and learnt to be a freak if she wanted.

Why would she want to be a freak?

The End.

A/N: I honestly felt sorry for Petunia after reading DH (Which by the way, was AWSOME!!!) And the first thing i imagined was her writing her letter to Dumbledore. So this story came about. It's a lot different to what i normaly write, but i like it.

Do you?

Until next time-
