Disclaimer: I do not own Alice in Wonderland.
Alice saw the strange-looking man drop a gold pocket watch out the window of his car. It certainly didn't look like it was on purpose, but really, a gold pocket watch? Who had those anymore? And who dropped them out of car windows accidentally? Not a normal person, surely. Definitely not normal. He didn't look normal, that was for sure. The man had completely white hair that stuck up strangely and a twitchy nose. In fact, the nose looked rather like the nose of a rabbit. Yes, that was what Alice would call him. Mr. Rabbit.
Alice picked up the watch off the sidewalk and glanced at it. It was a bizarre watch, and very heavy. Alice reckoned that it was made of real gold. She turned it over and found an inscription. To my dearest friend, Mr. White a hand-crafted watch from Dr. Hatter himself. Alice started to panic. This watch was probably very expensive.
Thankfully, there was only one Mr. White in her little town. He was an old bachelor who lived in an even older mansion on the outskirts of town, and was really seen. So Alice began to run.
She loved to run.
Faster and faster she ran, her golden hair flowing behind her, the pocket watch clenched firmly in her hand.
Alice always seemed to be running.
Running after that strangle flicker of something, that stray of extraordinary in her dull world.
Out of breath, she knocked on Mr. White's door fifteen minutes later. A boy with a smile that reached his ears opened the door. "Hello. I'm Mr. White's butler, Cheshire."
"Sir, I have to give Mr. White something. It's important, it really is-" Alice was cut of by Cheshire who was a strange combination of handsome and creepy.
"Mr. White is in the garden," Cheshire gestured to the back gate. Alice could see the old man, or Mr. Rabbit, as she thought of him, playing with an extremely obese rabbit.
Cheshire opened the gate for her and she walked in.
Alice gasped. It was the most beautiful garden she had ever seen, containing fields of flowers that seemed to have faces, tall trees, giant caterpillars, everything.
Failing to look where she was going, Alice fell into the rabbit hole, the disturbingly large rabbit hole, stumbling into an alternate reality that was far too much like the current unbelievable reality.
And the rest is history.
