Wyatt Forster never told anyone his dreams that he wanted to leave after college and just live on the coast. He would never tell anybody such a thing, including his mother, it would kill her. But that was always his dream, running and leaving the ranch and everything behind.
He was in college, and so close. Then he met Louise, and made a mistake. She got pregnant.
All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
Got my whole life ahead.
Hell I'm just a kid myself.
How'm I gonna raise one.
"Wyatt, I need to tell you something." Wyatt looked up at the worry in Louise's voice.
"Whats wrong?" he asked looking at her.
"Wyatt…I'm pregnant."
All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.
"What?" Wyatt asked shocked, "How do you know?"
"I'm late and I took a test this morning." Wyatt was still staring at her mouth hanging open. "I just thought you might have wanted to know." Louise said before walking away.
Wyatt looked down and mumbled, "There goes by my life."
And he said,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
Might as well kiss it all good-bye.
There goes my life...
Wyatt and Louise got married and had a baby girl they named Samantha Anne Forster. Sweet like her mother, stubborn like her father.
A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah...he loves that little girl.
Sam turned three years old today. Wyatt and Louise threw a party for her. Her favorite present was the teddy bear Wyatt gave her.
Momma's waiting to tuck her in,
As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.
Wyatt's sitting at the bottom of the stairs watching his Sammy girl drag that bear upstairs, Louise is waiting to put her to bed.
She gets to the top of the stairs then looks back down at Wyatt, kneeling at the bottom.
"Nigh Night Daddy." She smiles, then walks to her room.
Wyatt smiles, "There goes my life."
He smiles...
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you, daddy good-night.
There goes my life.
Sam is 18 and Wyatt remarried. Sam's going to California, for college. She has her little car packed and ready to go.
She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said you're good to go.
She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.
Wyatt popped the hood of the car to make sure everything was okay. He slammed the hood, then looked at his little girl, hugging Brynna.
"Take care of Dad for me, okay?" Sam said backing up from Brynna, smiling. Brynna nodded, tears sliding down her face.
Sam then turned to Wyatt. She threw her arms around his neck, pulling him close.
"Bye Daddy. I'm going to miss you." She said, tears falling from her eyes.
"I'm going to miss you too, honey." Wyatt squeezed her tight before letting go.
She got into her car, started it and pulled out of the ranch yard.
Wyatt put his arm around Brynna and watched her drive away.
"There goes my life," he whispered, tears falling down his face.
And he cried,
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you.
Baby good-bye.
There goes my life.
