Digital Destiny

Chapter 1
Xander stared at the rest of the council unable to believe what he had just heard. "You have got to be kidding me" He said to Buffy, Willow and Giles. "Why are you doing this, sending me away to Japan?"
"Xander we're sorry but we think it is for the best that you go to Japan becau-"
"Because if I'm no longer around then you don't have to put up with me correct"
"No, that's not it at all" Buffy said
"Then why am I being sent away" Xander asked
"Because we need some one to look after Dawn since she wants to transfer to the Japanese Branch of the council" Giles told him
"Oh so you want me to baby-sit Dawn" Xander sneered. "Why not send one of the slayers to protect her"
"Because there needed here incase some thing happens" Buffy told him angrily.
"and because I'm Joe Normal I'm not needed, am I right Buffy" Xander asked her. "Fine, I'll go with her and then you won't have to put up with me any longer" and stood and left with out another word.
Xander entered his House and headed straight to the training area to work off some steam. 'Why do they have to treat me as if I can't do anything to help with other then research and the donut run' he thought angrily as he started punching the training mannequin 'just because I don't have any special abilities or super strength doesn't mean I am invalid'.
Once he had worked through his frustrations he headed inside for a shower. After the shower Xander headed towards the kitchen to make himself dinner, when he got there he went to the fridge and got some steak and eggs out and then went out back to the barbeque and turned it on. As he was waiting for it to heat up he heard someone knocking on the front door.
"Who is it" Xander asked as he headed towards the door.
"It's Dawn" was the reply
"Hey Dawn what brings you here. I mean it's a lovely Friday afternoon." Xander said. "I thought someone like yourself would have a date tonight"
"I decided that I should take a old guy out tonight, you know for charity" Dawn quipped
"Oh well then this old guy must be very lucky to get a chance to go on a date with the lovely Dawn Summers" Xander said to her then quipped back "But to be safe I think that I should go with you instead of some old man, I mean we wouldn't want you corrupting the old now would we"
"Oh please the old are just as evil as the young" Dawn said "I mean look at Giles"
"Good point, but I don't think I can because I about to start my dinner" He told her
"Have you started it yet" Dawn asked
"No"
"Good then put it all away and then we can go"
"But-"
"No Buts Mister or I'll bring out the ultimate weapons of doom"
"You wouldn't dare"
"Are you willing to risk that Alexander Lavelle Harris"
"um, no not really"
"Good Boy"
At that comment Xander growled which made Dawn just laugh at him. "Hurry up and get your stuff so we can go get dinner"
Half an hour later they were sitting outside O'Malley's waiting for there meal to arrive when dawn decided to asked Xander about him going to Japan with her.
"Xander I know you weren't given much choice in the matter but I'm glad it's you who is going with me"
"Your right Dawn, I didn't get a choice at all, but maybe moving will turn out being a good thing"
"Yeah and think about it this way, you could have been going with Andrew instead"
"Um you have a point there Dawn" Xander said then asked. "When are we leaving?"
"In a couple of days since I need to get my college transcripts sent as well as get everything together"
"Ok then, so where exactly in Japan are we going"
"Odaiba in Tokyo"
The meal arrived a few minutes later and the two friends talked a bit more and then headed home to get some sleep before they had to start packing
