Hi! This is our first time writing any fanfiction, so please go easy on us! My sister wrote this, and I am the one who looks it over, as she writes much better than me. Please give us helpful reviews, and thanks!

Reflections of a Survivor
Ah, my Pharaoh. Why is it that you, the most innocent of all of us, had to give up your soul? We fought to save you- Isis, Karim, Shada, Shimon, Mahad- we fought to protect you. But we failed. We could not hold back the darkness. Only, you, only your pure soul, filled with light and power, could seal the evil away. Why could it not have been my soul that had to be sacrificed? After all I've done to you, it should have been I that died and you that stayed to rule this land. If you had but asked, I would have sealed myself- we all would have given up our souls to take your place. But alas, no. You had to ask me to perform the most difficult task of all. You had to ask me to live, to guide Egypt in your absence. How can I, so unworthy of this task, hope to measure up to you? You should have lived. With your will and power, you would have made this land of ours prosper. How can I hope to even come close to that? I am not worthy of the title of Pharaoh, nor of your trust. How can you trust me still, even after I attempted to usurp you from your rightful throne? I was so foolish… and now you are gone. My greatest rival, and closest friend, is dead. I always scoffed at your declarations of friendship but now that you are no longer with us, I wish that, just once, I could tell you that you were indeed my friend as well as my king. We're alone, Mana and I. Survivors. You told us to hold on to the light in our souls but how can we when you are gone? Only Kisara's light, her dragon, shines there now. Without you to guide me, to support me, to challenge me, I am lost. Adrift in this world but for one thing, the duty you asked me to carry out. I will not fail you my king. I will watch over Egypt while you are sealed, until that fateful day when your spirit reenters this realm and the rightful king can claim his throne. Know this, my Pharaoh; your sacrifice shall not be in vain. You shall not be forgotten.
