A/N: So this is just a little Kuki thing I wrote fueled by complete and utter boredom while at work and the gorgeous weather lately. It's been brought to my attention that I use too many adjectives, but I like words so whatever.

15 year old Kuki Sanban stepped out of her house and into heaven. It was Sunday, May 23rd, and it smelled like summer. Kuki could not think of a single smell she loved more in the whole world. Sunblock, hot dogs, freshly cut grass. It was bliss.

On this beautiful day, she was going to visit her superific friend, Wallabee Beatles, which made the day all the better. Wally probably wouldn't think it smelled like summer out. Kuki could hear his thickly accented voice in her head, "Come on, Kooks, summer doesn't have a smell!" Well. She'd show him.

Kuki skipped along the sidewalk in her white, knee-length cotton dress. The dress swished against her thin legs and the warm breeze pushed her ebony locks away from her face. The sounds of summer filled Kuki's ears. Children giggling, water spilling from a hose, the slam of a screen door, leaves rustling with the air. Kuki skidded to a stop as the familiar tiny house surrounded by a looming factory appeared in front of her. "Oh Wally!" she called.

The front door of the house opened a crack and Wally's face appeared. "Hey, Kooks." He smiled a heart-stopping smile in her direction. "I'll meet you around the back, ok?"

Kuki danced around the side of the house, eager to see what they'd be doing back there. She was surprised by what she saw. Wally had a huge pool…that was filled completely with sand. The Asian girl's delicate eyebrows scrunched together with confusion. She glanced to her left and saw Wally standing at the edge of the pool, shirtless, with a look of pride in his eyes. Kuki blushed at her friend's lack of clothing. "It's so hot out and crud that I thought we'd go in the pool, you know?" he said.

"Pool?" Kuki exclaimed. "Your pool is full of sand!"

"I know!" Wally crowed. "Isn't it awesome? We can bury ourselves in the sand right in my own backyard!" The blonde boy took a running leap into the pool turned sand pit. He dug furiously into the sand, the muscles in his back moving to match. He was just so…manly, Kuki decided. So different from the fuzzy memory she had of a tiny, 10 year old Wally. This boy was tall. His skin tan. He had hair like the sun and eyes to match. Even though she knew she could never tell him, Kuki thought Wally was beautiful.

Kuki sighed with a small smile. A pool full of sand, it didn't get much sillier than that, she thought as she sat on the edge to watch him. She let her toes dig themselves little holes in the sand. There was something about it that was so…Wally. "Diggin' in the sand, duh duh duh duh," her friend murmured, still hard at work.

Kuki knew what summer smelled like, felt like, and sounded like. And, if someone asked her, Kuki would say that her idea of summer looked exactly like Wallabee Beatles.
