They Live In You
It was the Third of November that Witches and Wizards from all around made their way to the little Graveyard in Godric's Hallow. The Graveyard was packed; among the crowd was the bleary eyed Remus Lupin.
It seemed to him that his world had come crashing down in on him. He ought to have known that it would happen some way or another, their deaths, but even if he had seen their deaths in the future, it would still have been a shock when they died. Remus was talking about James and Lily Potter of course. They had spent most of their lives together and now they were gone, teared away, gone.
Gone, Remus couldn't understand the way their lives had played out, ALL of their lives. How could Sirius betray them how could peter be gone?
Suddenly Remus felt angry. No one here knew Lily and James the way he did. Everyone could come up to him and say they were sorry for his loss, but they'd never know the pain. People would be "kind" and ask him how he was, but they'd never know what it was like to be constantly reminded by friends when you saw a broomstick or even a dog, they'd never know what it was like to go to a friends house eagerly wanting to tell your friend something, only to find it blown to bits. Eventually they'd stop asking how he was though, and he'd be left to his memories.
No matter, Remus was alone now, but staring at his friends in their coffins, he knew he couldn't let them die in vain. Even though these people would never get to know Lily and James, they should know what they stood for.
As Dumbledore finished his eulogy, Remus made his way up to the podium.
"James and Lily were great friends of mine, and I knew them the best. We grew up together; from Hogwarts to last night when their lives were lost they were very dear to me. Remus paused as his eyes glistened with the ghost of his past. It's cruel that such brave and wonderful people were snatched from this earth at only the age of twenty-one. "
It's sad many of you never got to know them, but know that on the night they lost their lives, they were brave.
Lily and James weren't afraid of voldemort, they weren't afraid to fight for what's right, even though it could ultimately mean their demise. They were true really were Gryffindors, with daring nerve and chivalry and brave at heart.
T'll tell you of Lily, who in her glittering green eyes you could find Strength and courage in the most trying times.
I can tell you of James, who wouldn't stop at any measures to make sure the right thing was done, but what I most want you to remember of Lily and James is not their sacrifice, but their triumph. For even though they cease to live, they are triumphant, because Lily and James put their lives on the line to fight against evil and to keep the wizarding world alive.
Do not cry for Lily and James, they would not want it.
Keep what they fought for alive.
Keep Justice alive.
Keep chivalry alive.
Keep BRAVERY ALIVE!
Do not let them die in vain.
If we keep fighting voldemort and evil that threatens our very existence, they are still alive.
Then they are still with us.
Then they live in all the people willing to fight for good.
For when we fight together, good will always triumph over evil.
