Just Another Typical Day
It's five A.M., and time to get up and moving:
Rachel's asleep, and I've got to keep on track.
It's been a year; I like to think I'm improving—
Keeping pace in this race, gaining balance I lacked.
I get my yoga done; I shower and I dress;
I give Rachel breakfast, and I clean up the mess.
When Marina arrives, I'm off to work. I guess
It's just another typical day.
Over coffee, it's memos, letters and e-mail.
And House is late—oh, great—so I'll have to scold,
Though it means there's no chaos I have to derail.
Paper shifts; my mood lifts as the hours unfold.
I'll swing by Legal if I have some time to spare:
I'm taking House a case, and so they should prepare.
Then I'll go find Wilson—he'll be upstairs somewhere—
And I'll make sure that House has come in.
Then I'll start waiting, and wondering, and waiting and wondering
When will his schemes begin?
[Music slows.]
Another day underway. I know
To think on my feet and cope as I go.
It works all right. There's strain and there's stress,
But I'm still satisfied that I am doing my best.
