Jacob POV

I watched as a group of people walked over to our group, while sitting on some stones near the fire. We were on First Beach, hanging with some friends. I grabbed some food as it was passed to me before passing it on. Eric introduced the brunette that had just entered the group. Her name was Bella and the girl beside her was Angela. I glanced at Bella and saw her looking at me.

I sat down next to Angela and Mike brought us some sandwiches and soda to choose from as I glanced at the boy by the fire. Another boy with black hair told us the name of the other seven boys with him. The boy who I first noticed was Jacob. I ate beside Angela, silently thanking her for the quiet. We finished eating and other people started to walk away in twos and threes. After Angela left to take a walk, the boy, Jacob, walked over to me and took Angela's place beside me.
Jacob asked me if I was Isabella Swan and I answered him in a sigh, "Bella."
Jacob introduced himself and shook my hand. We talked a bit and I laughed, enjoying myself. Lauren broke into our great conversation asking," You know Bella, Jacob?"
Jacob smiled and said,"We've sorta known each other since I was born."
You could tell just by the narrowing of her eyes, Lauren didn't like that. "How nice."
I asked Jacob if he came up to Forks much, hoping for a yes because I really liked him.
"Not too much." He replied with a frown. I sighed softly, hoping he couldn't see the disappointment in my eyes. "Do you like scary stories?" he asked, changing the topic.
"I love them." I said, trying to flirt with him. Jacob grabbed my hand, much to my delight, and pulled me over to a driftwood tree. We sat down and he told me about the cold ones… Vampires…. I had goose bumps on my arms and Jacob laughed.
Mike and Angela met up with us after the story and Jacob whispered in my ear, "Is that your boyfriend?"
I winked at him and answered,"Definitely not." I watched Jacob smile happily. I was glad, too, that Jacob was interested in me.
"So we're packing up… it looks like it's going to rain." Mike said as he glanced up at the sky. I glanced up to and groaned. Dark clouds were rolling in and my perfect day would be ruined.
"Look, how about you come over to my house and you can see Billy," he said before adding, a little more hopeful, "and we can talk more." He smiled at me and I beamed at the thought of going over to his house.
"Sure." I agreed." Mike, I'll see you at school." I added." And you too Angela." I called to her, for she was still picking her way toward us. Jacob took my hand and we waved good-bye to them as we walked towards his house.
He's so sweet and so warm. I blushed and Jacob glanced down at me. "You're so pretty when you blush." I blushed even deeper at his words. I glanced up at him and quickly looked around after meeting his eyes. Unwanted thoughts and images floated into my mind. I shook my head as we neared the house.
"Dad! Bella's here." Jacob yelled.
"Well, bring her in here." He called back.
"I've got to call Charlie and tell him where I'm at, Jacob. May I use your phone?" I asked a bit embarrassed.
"Sure." He pointed the phone out to me and I called Charlie. His answer surprised me.
"Go ahead and spend the night… I'm sure Jacob will be happy and Billy won't mind. Just Bella…" Charlie trailed off.
"Yes, Dad?" I asked.
"Be careful… if you know…"
"Dad, we're not… we're just friends. I promise you. We're not doing—"I said.
"Never mind." Charlie said, changing his mind.
"Anyway, Billy's here." I mentioned.
"Are you telling me that if Billy wasn't there that you—" Charlie Managed to get out. You could tell he was getting worked up.
"No! Bye, Dad!" I said and hung up.
