This story popped into my head while I was still working on the other story. I'm still writing it, but this story would not leave me alone so I wrote it down. I kind of know where this is heading; it's just filling in the holes in between. It'll follow the movie and depending on the reviews perhaps a sequel leading up the avengers.

Prologue: A history lesson

With the passage of time, man no longer worshipped us. Zeus did not like this turn of events. He no longer watched over them, he no longer cared for them. Then when the Frost Giants came, the plight and cries of the people fell on blind eyes and death ears. He felt that man, his children, had turned their backs on him and in turn he turned his back on them. He also demanded the rest of the gods to not help the people.

This was an order that I could not nor would not follow. My love for man was unconditional. They may no longer worship me, nor remember me, but I still loved them. Man was a unique race. They were capable of greatness, but their capacity for evil far exceeds it. They know this and try to change, either by changing religions or beliefs or helping each other in times of great sorrow, they still try to maintain their hope that they can be good.

I fought against the Frost Giants, but not alone. Zeus' brothers Poseidon and Hades, along with his wife Persephone, came to my aide. They were tired of Zeus' vain and selfish ways and decided to go against him. The others were too cowardly to go against my father Zeus.

We were losing the war. We were outnumbered, and when hope seemed lost, we were saved by them, Odin, the ruler of Asgard leading an army behind to defeat the Frost Giants. I have heard of him and the Gods of the other world. On more than one occasion, Odin has tried to make peace between our two worlds, but each time, Zeus would not allow it. Paranoid that it was a trick and the Allfather planned to take Earth from him. I never believed him. Odin was a pacifist; he truly wanted peace. He will go to war only as a last resort.

When we defeated the Frost Giants, Odin offered a treaty between our worlds again. The four of us agreed, but Zeus did not. When he found out we disobeyed his order, he threatened to punish us the same way he did Prometheus. A punishment that I would not receive without a fight, nor would the others. Odin stepped in for us and tried to reason with him. He was very persuasive, especially with the army he had at his command. Zeus finally relented and agreed to an alliance between the worlds.

When Odin left, Zeus gathered the remaining gods and went to Mt. Olympus, our home. It is now a home we are no longer allowed entrance. Hades did not mind, for he was never really welcomed, but Poseidon and I were devastated. In addition to our banishment, we were also ostracized by the other gods. Demeter was the only one who would secretly meet with her daughter Persephone.

Despite the home and friends we lost we found new allies and a new place to be welcomed in. Earth was always changing and it was good for us to see man, continuing to strive forward. Everything changes, but it still stays the same at the same time. One universal constant is that man is still… well man. We also frequently visited Asgard. I mingled a lot with the humans, it was always sad to see them pass on, so when I visited Asgard, it was a warm welcome to have friends that were immortal. I watched Odin's sons Thor and Loki. I watched them grow up into the men they were now. Thor always the boastful, strong god of thunder, and Loki the shy quiet, yet sly god of mischief. I have always wondered about Loki. He was different from the rest of his fellow Asgardians. I could never pinpoint why I felt this way, but the feeling was always there.

Now here I am, Athena Goddess of Wisdom and War, ally to Odin Allfather. This is where my story begins.
