It's been ten days. Ten days in a room with nothing but a door and a light. Ten days in a cage that is so cold you would rather be stuffed in a freezer. Tens days eating nothing but the rats that scurry past my cage. Every time I open my eyes the room seems too get smaller and smaller. My paw still acing from that gun shot. And they call us beasts.
Outside the door I could hear a faint voice of a man. All that I could get out of the conversation was, "were…money...have…it…real…send…picture." I am slowly learning there language, it's very complex whiles mine is just a bunch of squawks and roars.
I sit up straight, my head just missing the top of the rusted cage. Closing my eyes I breathe in, Gods, please grant me freedom or is it your plan for my race to perish.
I lie back down and curl into a ball, if this is the Gods plans…so be it. I take my one wing and cover my head with it as if I am trying to hide away from someone, maybe myself. I can fell the fur on my back rubbing against the cold bars.
The door handle starts to turn but I do not care…I will never care. But I do, I do care what happens to me so I slightly move my wing so that I may see the man coming into the grey room. He speaks to me, "Let's…picture…beast." I move my wing back in front of my face. I can hear him fiddling with something. Probably some human made thing. I hear a click. Is he opening my cage? I immediately move my wing. Of course not, just that stupid electronic thingy. I give out an irritated squawk and then I hid myself again.
The man leaves the room. He grabs hold of the metal knob on the door and looks back at me. I cannot see him but I can fell his harsh unwanted gaze, "thanks beast."* SLUM*.
I sit up again, trying to look as proud as I could, "It's not beast," I squawk,
"It's Zack and I am a Griffin."
