Kagami leaned over her notebook, working out the complex algebra problem she'd been assigned that day. She set down her pencil and rubbed at her temples. Algebra gave her headaches. As usual, Konata was lying on the floor waiting for her to figure out the answers so she could copy them all. Kagami glared at her.
"You know, you'll never get anywhere with an attitude like yours."
Konata shrugged. "So what you're saying, is you want me to apply my self more?"
"If only because I don't like feeling like I'm the only one doing any work around here." she grumbled in reply.
"Well in that case," murmured Konata, standing up, and crawling onto a stunned Kagami's lap. "Allow me to make my first attempt at applying myself, to confess the fact that I love you Kagamin."
Kagami blushed hard, and tried to say something in response but it only came out as an unintelligible babble. Of course she'd always had feelings for this girl now snuggling up against her chest, but she'd never had the guts to tell her that, and she certainly never expected for her to love her back.
"Well Kagami? I'd like an answer, if you don't mind."
Before she could stop herself, Kagami brought her face down, and locked lips with her long time friend. Before long the two of them slid onto the floor, swapping spit and each of them enjoying the taste of the other. They were rudely interrupted by the sound of Konata's cell phone vibrating on the table above them. Kagami broke the contact and reached up to grab the offending device. She took a deep breath to calm herself before answering.
"Hello?"
"What are you doing to my daughter?" a soft female voice replied. Before Kagami could say anything more, the woman on the other end hung up, leaving her with a droning dial tone. She closed the phone, and set it back on the table.
"Konata, I think your mom just called." Konata's expression became one of horrified disbelief.
"Kagami... My mom is dead."
Kagami's eyes widened. This was impossible. It had to be impossible.
"But then... WHO WAS PHONE."
