A small furry creature related in some cursory way to a chipmunk raised it's head, squealing in high-pitched anger as it barely avoided being crushed by a heavy black boot. Colonel Jack O'Neill paid no attention to the chattering alien beast; he was too busy focusing on his destination. The Stargate was nearby; the only question was if they'd make it in time... He panted, glancing over his shoulder and seeing Teal'c keeping stride just behind him.

They burst from the forest, Jack changing his course to hit the DHD. He slammed his palm against the familiar address, dialing Earth and leaning on the bright red dome. "What of Daniel Jackson and Major Carter?" Teal'c asked of their missing teammates, coming up beside O'Neill. "We cannot simply leave them!"

"They were too slow, Teal'c. We can't afford to wait for them."

Teal'c glanced back at the forest, regretfully agreeing with O'Neill as the Colonel punched in their iris code. "Hope Walter is paying attention back home," Jack muttered. He gave the technicians a few seconds to accept the code and dove for the Stargate.

He didn't break stride down the ramp, pulling his gun free from his vest and tossing it to a nearby guard. "Time, General?"

Hammond frowned and checked his watch, flustered by the sudden change of subject. "Uh... 1354. Colonel, what is the meaning of this?"

The Colonel took his time to pause, standing before the General. "Sorry, Sir. Teal'c and I, we're just... late."

"For what?"

"The Canucks of Vancouver are scheduled to play a game this afternoon," Teal'c explained.

"In about six minutes," Jack added, anxiously eyeing the blast doors of the Gate Room.

Hammond looked between the two men, unbelieving. "All of this commotion, abandoning a mission, leaving your teammates behind... all of this for a ihockey game/i?"

"Not just a game, General," Jack clarified. "It's the playoffs."
