He looked down at the small boy in his arms. How had it all gone so horribly wrong? Envys eyes filled with the first tears he had shed in a long time. And it was all for the blonde alchemist sitting right in front of him. Ed had told him it didn't matter that they were different. That it didn't matter what other people said. That he loved the sin no matter what. Big fat teardrops splashed down Envys face and onto Eds cheek.
"You have to let go of all that foolish human shit. All the things you're feeling right now are not true."
Envy growled when he heard Dantes voice. His head snapped up and he met her gaze unflinchingly.
"Shut up. JUST SHUT UP! You're the reason he's d- d-" He seemed unable to say the proper word.
"Dead?" Dante replied dryly.
His face crumpled and he felt as if he would never stop weeping. Dante reached down to put a hand on the homunculuss shoulder.
"He never really loved you. How could he? You're a monster that your father created. Besides, he's your mortal enemy. You hate him, and he hates you. Simple as that."
That was when Envy snapped. His arm transformed into a sharp spear, and before she had any time to react, he impaled Dante thru the heart. Blood gushed every where and Envy spoke in a menacing whisper.
"Hows it feel to have your blood splayed for once, huh? That was for killing me and the one I love."
She smiled a sad smile.
"How pitiful, you choose a weak human over your own mother. Ugh."
With those last words she collapsed. Envy withdrew his arm and turned to face Ed. He looked so peaceful, so calm. Envy made one final choice. He reached down and kissed Edward Elric. His nemesis. His one true love. The golden child. Everything he wanted, everything he couldn't have. He placed the blonde gently on the ground and, after having one final look at his beloved, fled at an inhuman speed.
