It all started on the dreadful night that Nephrite died…
"No! Nephrite! You can't leave me! Please… you can't!" Naru Osaka sobbed holding, clinging, on for dear life to the small scrap of orange cloth that was her last remaining memory of Nephrite.
"Naru, it's okay-" Usagi, or Sailor Moon as she was currently transformed, started, trying to comfort her best friend.
"No! It's not okay Nephrite is dead and it's all your fault! You could have saved him! He was trying to be good, but you just let them kill him! You're supposed to be our hero, our saviour, so why didn't you save him? I wish you would just go away!" Naru screamed.
Naru is fourteen! She doesn't need to know this kind of pain, I'm her best friend I should be protecting her from pain like this! I definitely shouldn't be the reason that she feels pain! It's my fault that Nephrite came to Earth, I should have defeated them back on the moon! Then she would have never met him, and we wouldn't be here right now. Wait! The moon?
Zoisite, who was watching this, with quite an interest might I add, took his chance. Beryl had given him his orders prior to him starting the attack, so he leapt for his prey. As he was moving toward the group of distracted teenagers Zoisite shot a shpere of dark energy at Mars and Mercury knocking them down, instantly dealing with them, then shot a slightly larger one at Sailor Moon. Then he, himself, disappeared. Usagi was too distracted to see the dark energy moving towards her, she was still trying to work out why she had thought of the moon. Just as the sphere reached her Mars looked up and screamed at her to move, "Usagi! Get out of the-"but she was too late, Usagi was engulfed by the sphere and disappeared.
"Usagi! No!"
"Wait, Usagi? Did you just say, Usagi?"
Oh kuso! I just did that didn't I? Rei thought, mentally slapping herself repeatedly.
Ami couldn't believe what had just happened in the span of five minutes. Usagi was taken by the enemy, Naru was emotionally traumatized and on top of that Rei just blew the lid off of Usagi's secret identity.
"Congratulations Zoisite, you have accomplished more in five minutes than both of those two buffoons combined." Beryl praised, while ominously stroking her strange crystal ball. "Now where is she?" "The girl, Sailor Moon, is right here my queen." Zoisite flicked his hand and the sphere that had engulfed Usagi appeared. He moved his hand again and the ball floated to just in front of Beryl and disappeared dropping Usagi in the process. She hit the floor with a thud and didn't move except for the occasional weak breath, "Well done Zoisite. Now, take her to the chambers and begin the brainwashing." Zoisite nodded to his queen and picked up the small girl, then walked out of the throne room.
As he was walking, Zoisite looked down on her, as he did he felt a strange urge to protect her. That's odd. Maybe I should take her to Kunzite and see what he says? He decided against it, knowing what Beryl would do if she found out he didn't follow orders… now let's just say Zoisite preferred to keep ALL of his limbs.
So he took her to the chambers and placed her in the strange pod that lookedas if it was made from rock leaves. As he saw the stream of dark energy begin and flow into her body he felt the strange urge to protect the young girl, as if she were his sister. I must be losing my mind, she is the enemy! If only he had realised, that when he thought of his enemies, the only face that appeared in his mind, was Beryl's…
"Endymion! Save me!"
Mamoru shot up in his bed with her terrified shout echoing and bouncing around in his head. What in Kami was that? That definitely wasn't my usual dream… He mentally sorted the events of his dream so he would not forget them.
I ran through the usual rose garden, but for some reason the roses didn't look right to me, they looked, to me, for lack of a better word, faded. I eventually came to a castle and looked up towards the balcony under which I was standing. Same as usual, she was standing there looking up to the Earth.
Wait what! The Earth? That was never there before, if this isn't Earth, then where is it?
I looked up at her and she looked different too, though I still couldn't see her face. Her hair was a dull yellow instead of the usual sparkling golden and though it was a tangled mess though you could tell it was still in it's usual style. Her dress was ruffled and shredded around the bottom as if she just came out of a battle. Her arms and dress were covered in mud and something darker, which I assumed was blood. She turned to face me and spoke, but her voice was different, it wasn't her usual silvery, cheerful voice, it wavered and sounded strained as if she had been crying.
"Endymion, they are back and they are winning! Make sure you get the rainbow crystals! Don't let them win again, I believe in you."
"Endymion? Who's that? Who's back? What are rainbow crystals, and what happened to you?"
"You will learn all of that in time, for now all you need to know is that you are running out of time! You need to get the rainbow crystals!" Then all of a sudden she screamed and began to slowly fade. "Help they have gotten to me! For now they don't know who I am, but they will soon find out! You will have help with the task of obtaining the rainbow crystals but only you can save me from them." She had almost disappeared by this point.
"Who? What do I need to do? Please tell me!" I screamed at her now getting agitated, this had never happened before I was worried about her.
She screamed again, disappearing into a sphere of dark energy, shouting her last words, "Endymion! Save me!"
After that I woke up, with her scream ringing in my ears. He turns to his bedside table and checks his clock.
Seriously? It's one o'clock in the morning? Why must she take my precious sleeping time away from me? What happened to her? Wait! Hold up a second! Am I worried? Why should I be worried? I don't even know her! All I know is that she ruins my sleep every night! Should I be worried?
OF COURSE YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED! YOU BLINKED AND THE GIRL BLOODY DISSAPEARED! WHY WOULDN'T YOU BE WORRIED?!
Oh great, you're back.
Mamoru thought his night was bad enough but it had just gotten worse, HE was back. HE was a voice inside his head that had been pestering him for as long as he could remember and he was back.
WELL OF COURSE I'M BACK! YOU WOULD DESTROY THE WHOLE DAMN GALAXY IF I WASN'T HERE AND IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE YOU ALREADY HAVE, OR AT LEAST DOOMED IT.

Mamoru slowly made his way back to his bed and crawled under the covers. He had no trouble at all falling to sleep, to be more specific, his dreamless sleep.
OMG THAT WAS SO FUN TO WRITE! I love imagining the relationship that Mamoru and the voice would have. Next chapter let's throw in worried parental units and a confused Naru! Who can guess who the voice is? Any constructive criticism will be appreciated even just plain criticism. I can't fix what I don't know of. I'm like a koala, I won't do anything unless I need to and I won't know if I need to if nobody tells me!
