A/N: A total plotless ficlet. It came to me while watching YW again.
"Thank you" Gibbs walks down stairs of plane.
I didn't understand at first why Agent Gibbs thanked me after I just thanked him for stopping a terrorist attack. I didn't get a chance to ask him either as he turned around and walked down the stairs and out of sight.
As I was walking to my office the next day I overheard some of my agents talking about former Secret Service Agent Caitlin Todd – she resigned yesterday because she broke protocol – and how she was apparently working with NCIS.
NCIS, what she doing with them? I wondered to myself as I continued on to my office.
When I had some spare time during that day I contacted an old friend of mine who I was sure would know about Agent Todd's new choice of employment and I was told that Special Agent Gibbs asked offered her a job working with him at NCIS and she accepted. Then I knew that was why Gibbs had thanked me, he wanted Kate on his team and as I accepted her resignation he could offer her a job and she would most likely take it. The sneaky bastard.
I had the up most respect for Agent Gibbs though, I mean you'd have to be pretty clever and cunning to be able to fool the FBI and a Secret Service Agent - who was also on board the plane – into thinking that the person in the body bag was actually dead.
I wonder how Agent DiNozzo is?
And he managed to work out the terrorists plan and foiled it before he could kill the President. Kate would do well over at NCIS.
I went back to my work and only heard comments about her for a couple of months until they slowly tapered off and then there was nothing, she'd made a life for herself at NCIS and had become one of them.
The last time I heard about Kate was 3 months after she'd left the Secret Service and I didn't hear anything about her until that fateful day that one of the new agents came up to me and informed me that she was killed by a sniper.
I didn't know what to think, she was witty and full of life and suddenly I was hearing that she was killed, dead. I thought she would have had more of a chance to be killed on duty while being a Secret Service Agent but it seemed that I was wrong.
I went to her funeral in Indiana, her new team – family – was there, they all walked up and put flowers on her coffin. Someone – I'm not sure who they were – made a eulogy, it was nice but it tell us who Kate was. She got a medal for what she did that day.
Her new team walked away from the cemetery together and one of the women their put on some music and suddenly they were gone.
I kept tabs on Gibbs team over the years – I don't know why – and I heard they got a new female agent and she was accepted into the team after a while, she became the new family member. Like Kate was a couple of years ago. I found through the grape vine that Gibbs quit and left the team to Agent DiNozzo, but he came back after a few months and took his lead up again. It was good to hear the family was back together, even if Kate wasn't there.
I felt proud to have known Special Agent Todd recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and great Agent and person. She was missed dearly by her family and friends.
