James fiddled with his shirt buttons, he had never been nervous around Jennifer Juan before, in awe of her perhaps, but always at ease. She was beautiful, there was no doubt about that, with big brown eyes and a body that made his hands tingle, but she had always been just another girl, until of course she wasn't.

After returning from his travels, he found that true to her word and fanciful dreams, she had gained a following of devoted and adoring followers, who watched her every move, supported her projects and waited with anticipation for her to upload a new picture.

He at first found it confusing that the girl he loved was now followed and cherished by thousands of people, but when he remembered her sweet, gentle nature and the way complete strangers used to stare when they were together, it made more sense.

He found her Instagram, after creating his own, and followed her in vain, knowing his voice was just one of thousands, but all the same, he clicked through every picture, a pang in his heart as he realised he wouldn't be in any of them. His foolish pride had pushed her away, and now she belonged to a world of lovers who he had to admit were far more dedicated than he was in his foolish youth.

He smiled, seeing her happy, and successful, and somehow even more beautiful than he remembered. That was truly all that mattered to him, honestly. As he went to close the app, he gasped at a notification.

"Jennifer Juan has followed you."
