Authors note- Maybe?
So hello um I have no idea what I'm doing and this is my first story but it has to be Cato and Clove so here I go then.
So chapter 1 :D
When her name was called out she thought about her brother.
She covered her worry, very well infact, it was something Clove was brilliant at. Masking her emotions came as natural as breathing to her.
She was ready, ready for the bloodbath. She'd kill them all. And come home to rescue her little brother from what they called 'home'.
Her bright green eyes turned excited, she almost felt giddy. She bounded up next to the crazy looking man with an overload of orange blush and bright purple hair.
He put his arm round her and Clove stiffened at the touch, fighting the urge to push him off.
She smiled for the cameras. A big smirk played across her features. She was ready. Ready.
"What a brave girl!" Purple hair booms, as the crowd goes wild.
What for, she wonders. She doesn't even know these people. But her brothers crying, he better stop. Sharpish. Her dad's clapping and looking smug. It's all he's ever dreamed of. She hates him.
Purple hair makes his way to the boys bowl. "Let's see what lucky boy it is!"
It's Cato. Why Cato.
He's smirking, making his way up to the stage, grinning more than her.
The entire female population of District 2 is swooning over him.
And Cloves glare just hardens. He could be a threat. She's seen him in the training centre.
Mask, she thinks. Mask. He's no threat. You're ready. You'll come home.
"Shake hands then!" the presenters insisting, pushing her towards him.
She's cautious as he sticks his hand out, offering it. But she takes it, squeezing it hardly, excitement in her eyes. Game on.
The train ride to the Capitol is painful, her brother's words playing in her head.
"Don't let them turn you into a monster Clove, please."
He has no idea, what she's really like.
Or maybe he's the only one who actually does. Either way, she just remains silent.
This Cato guy is annoying her. She never really knew him, back home. He was just the guy all the girls wanted.
Her mentors, Brutas and Enorbia, are talking to Cato. Enorbia's complementing his muscles, as he flexes them. He'd fuck anything with two legs.
She scoffs and finally the mentors become aware of her presence.
"Clove," Enorbia says "what a pretty name. You look like a winner, how are you feeling doll? Hungry?" She edges a plate of rolls closer to me. "No." Clove says pushing them back.
Enorbia nods, "Ok. So, strategies, help me out here Brutas"
"How 'bout stay a-fucking-live" He says easily.
"No, you're not serious? Stay alive? Sounds like a plan, how come I didn't think of that?" Clove says slapping her head in fake frustration.
Cato laughs.
"Look we all know it won't be you coming home baby Clover, I will."
It's all it takes for her hands to reach the nearest steak knife and send it flying centimetres away from Cato's head.
He looks shocked for a second. And smirks "Missed me."
"If my goal was for you to die, you'd be dead" she hisses, standing up and leaving the compartment, while Brutas laughs and Enorbia screams about how inappropriate that was.
Fuck them. She thinks.
