THE FoReVER GIFT
A twelve year old Gray Fullbuster walked into the guild,whistling merrily,until the familiar salmon-haired boy knocked him down.
"Got ya now Ice Princess!"He grinned as he pinned him down, Gray struggled and pushed Natsu off him. "Mind your own business Natsu,I hate to be disturbed by pesks in the morning."He straightened his shirt and walked away while Natsu just stood there,jaw joined him. "What happened Natsu?" The boy shook his head, "The ice princess didn't fight back today."
Gray walked over to Cana. "Wow you sure do look merry today Fullbuster,won some lottery or what?"Cana said gulping down the juice in one go and picking up the other can.
" Don't tell anyone,it's a secret."He leaned down and whispered something in the brunette's ear.
"Fine I won't tell anyone but I don't know what's there to hide?"Cana said as she got up and stood in front of him,her brow arched. "It's just that I want them to figure it out themselves."Gray chuckled. "You've got one twisted mind Gray."
Gray shook his head moved towards the request board,there was none that took his interest so he decided to chill around for a while.
"Natsu,I don't want you idling around like this the next time got it?"Gray turned around to see his redheaded friend scolding shuddered,he knew it was his turn next so he turned around and faced the request board.A smile crept upto his face when he remembered how he used to challenge her to fights all the time.
"Gray Fullbuster,are you gonna just stand there staring at the board all day or pick a job for yourself?"The redhead stood next to him,looking at him suspiciously.
"Y-Yes ma'am.I will go on a job."He started finding a pushed him aside. "Let me find one for you Fullbuster and I bet it would be a good one."
Gray sighed and let her do the searching,meanwhile his eyes scanned the guild,the Strauss family(except Lisanna) had gone on a job and so had the Shadow Gear Team,also it seemed that Natsu and Lisanna were off playing somewhere.
" This one would do."Erza handed him a flyer.
Gray went through the flyer. "Volunteers for a cake shop?"Erza nodded. "I like cake."Gray leaned over the wall. "This job requires two people."
"Yeah ,so I would join you!"Erza exclaimed,a huge grin over her straightened up. "But.."
He was cut off by the redhead,grabbing his hand and dragging him out. "No ifs and buts, you can keep the reward to yourself,I just wanna help."
"And nobody asked for it."Gray mumbled.
Both reached the cakeshop and put on the apron, both stood at the counter,waiting for a customer to come.
"Hey Gray."Erza looked at her. "What?" She pointed to a cheesecake. "I want this."Gray sighed. "You expect me to steal it?" Erza shook her head. "Nope you buy it for me."Gray's jaw dropped.
"And why would I buy you the cake?"He asked her as he faced back in front. "Because I want it,and Gray Fullbuster being the gentleman that he rarely is should buy me what I want."Erza sighed again. "Fine.I will buy you one but later."
Soon the job got over and they received the bought Erza the cheesecake and she seemed as happy as a child(though she was one!).They both headed towards the guild,the sun was about to go Erza came in front of Gray.
"Gray."
"You want another cake?"
Erza shook her head. "I wanna give you something."She took his hand and put something in his hand. "Happy Birthday Gray."
Gray's eyes widened and he looked at the girl in front of him,who was smiling like opened his hand and there was a silver chain with a beautiful swordshaped cross.
"S-Scarlet,you remember my birthday?"
"I can never foregt it Gray."
Gray Fullbuster smiled and wore the chain. "So?"
"It's looking better than I thought."
And that's how our beloved Gray got his chain,as a gift from Erza.
