- "Are you sure you want to go?" Robin asked Starfire
- as they both sat, once again, on the rooftop of Titans Tower.
- "I am positive I do not wish to go but I am sure that I must." she replied," You have the knowledge that I must
- return to Tamaran to help my people. Especially
- since Gorflore's death."
- Starfire 's eyes fell to the ground at the mention
- of her old kn'orkla. He was kind enough to bring her into his own home after her parents' death.
- Robin put a hand on her shoulder. "I know it's sad that Gorflore died. But I bet if he were hear right know he'd
- be proud of you. I am at least."
- Starfire looked up and smiled at her best friend.
- He always knew how to cheer her up.
- "You promise you'll call us if something bad happens?" asked Robin .
- "I promise."
- "And if you get sick you won't fight until you get better?"
- "Yes."
- "You won't have another best-guy friend?"
- "Yes, Robin."
- "And you won't forget me?"
- "I couldn't-"
- "Promise you'll come back as soon as you can?"
- "I will once Tamaran is victorious in battle." Answered Starfire.
"Good." Robin smiled. "I wouldn't want you running of now, would I?"
"No, but you must promise me that you'll wait for my return." said a very solemn- faced Starfire.
"Always Star, always." Robin answered gazing from behind his mask into her beautiful emerald eyes.
They sat there gazing at each other until both were close to tears.
"Oh, Robin!" Starfire cried, who could no longer stand the
"It's okay. You'll come back." Robin choked trying hard to
convince Starfire and himself that it was alright.
Crying they both pulled away from their embrace .Knowing if the hugged each other for a moment more they would never part.
"I'll never forget you Star." whispered Robin looking into the same emerald eyes which now moist.
"Nor I, you." Starfire vowed quietly .
"Well I-I guess you better go now." Robin said silently praying
she wouldn't.
Starfire nodded. Biting her lower-lip she flew off barely daring to look back at the boy, she loved, wondering if she'd ever see him again.
Meanwhile Robin watched as his beloved flew farther and farther into the sky. It looked as if it were swallowing her. He wanted to yell for her beg her to come back. However, he knew she had a duty to fulfill.
Hours later, a boy still sat on a rooftop of a Tower shaped like a big T.
"I'll be waiting for you." he whispered to the sky as the sun slowly set.
