Vanilla Twilight
A/N: SongFic based on Owl City's Vanilla Twilight, Doctor/River
The Doctor stared out across the room, at the million stars dancing above them, River had a look of wonder plastered onto her face...
He quickly snapped back into reality, River was gone, dead, the end. Yet she was embedded into his head, he lay awake on his bed staring up at the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling.
The stars lean down to kiss you and I lie awake and miss you, pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere.
The Doctor finally fell asleep. Yet there was an absence in his bed, the space which River curled up next to him. He felt so cold, alone, as he had been.
I'll dose off safe and soundly, but I'll miss your arms around me, I'll send a postcard to you dear, 'cause I wish you were here.
Hauling himself up again, he had a look outside the door's to see if the TARDIS had landed anywhere remotely interesting for the moment. He stared at the sunrise, which casting long shadows around him. He looked down at his fingers, staring at them intently, eventually a small tear fell onto them.1
I'll watch the night turn light blue, but it's not the same without you, 'cause it takes two to whisper quietly, the silence isn't so bad, till I look at my hands and feel sad, because the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly.
He turned to the TARDIS and slammed the door behind him, he missed River, He hadn't slept in two days, since she had gone, it tore him apart.
I'll find repose in new way, but I haven't slept in two days, 'cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone.
He set the controls to random, right now he just needed to clear his head and think, when the TARDIS gave it's trademark groaning/wheezing, he stroked the console, though the sound ended, but three minutes later. He stepped out, and looked ahead. It was amazing, A dark cloud was being pushed further and further backwards. Vanilla Twilight. He'd seen it somewhere. He sat down for countless hours, Thinking about River, and suddenly, he didn't feel so alone, he vowed as many times as I blink, I will think of her tonight, that promise he kept.
But drenched in Vanilla Twilight, I'll sit on the front porch all night, waist deep in thought because when I think of you, I don't feel so alone... I don't feel so alone, as many times as I blink I'll think of you tonight... I'll think of you tonight.
His eyes started to brighten and he felt so much more alive, he felt the wind whip his face, He forgot all his worries, but never EVER did he forget River, he left her a little note, before she died, it read simply 'Oh Darling I wish you were here'
When violet eyes get brighter, and heavy wings grow wider, I'll taste the sky and feel alive again, but I'll forget the world that I knew, though I swear I won't forget you, oh if my voice could reach back through the past and whisper in your ear, Oh Darling I wish you were here...
THE END
