Harry and Hermione were working on a potions essay in the Griffindor common room, by a roaring fire. It was the last homework assignment they had to do before winter break, and Harry was ready for it to be over. Snape had asked them to right a three food essay on the uses of monkswood. Harry felt like he was ready to rip his own hair out.
"'Mione, can you check this over for me please?" he asked. "The book isn't really helping."
She nodded, "Yes, the book is rather limited on this subject."
Just as Hermione was about to grab his essay to look it over, Ron ran in through the portrait hole. He tripped over his own robes and fell on his face before he was even in the common room. He got back up and rushed over to his friends. His face was as red as his hair and he was breathing hard. He had a grin on his face and looked pleased with himself.
"I've finaly done it!" he yelled. "I've learned to see the future in a Crystal Ball!" He held up the ball and struck a dramatic pose.
Hermione pursed her lips in disaproval and scowled at him. "Ron, thats all rubish. Only a true seer can see the future."
"Well that makes me a see then doesn't it?" He said, ego dripping off of every word.
Harry looked at Hermione and then back at Ron. "Okay," He said. "What did you see?"
"Snow! Loads of it. Perfect for a winter snow ball war if my divinations are correct, and they are!" He glared at Hermione and showed the globe to his friends.
Hermione looked and then had to look away. She was turning pink with the effort not to laugh but Harry howled.
"What?" asked the red head. "What's so funny, then?"
Once Harry had gained control of his laughter he looked at his best friend and said, "Ron, thats not a Crystal Ball."
Ron looked at the object in his hands again and then his expression changed to one of embarassment.
"Oh, bugger. Its a snow globe!" he yelled. "I'm going to kill Fred and George!"
Back at Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes, Fred and George were closing up shop. "When do you recon he'll figure it out?" asked Fred
"What, Ron?" asked George. "The first time he trys to use it in class I recon." They looked at eachother and laughed.
