This is a request for Neassa-chan (and a bit of a Halloween treat for everyone else sing I couldn't get the chapter of "Commoner's Spirit Week" up in time…) that she got by telling me how to make an avatar work xD Sorry it took so long, but I've never really written much of a RoyxRiza story before…So I hope you like it! I just randomly thought of this title, and the rest just fell into place…It turned out totally different from how I thought it would lol. So yah. If anyone else wants a request, please, just lemme know : )

Improper

She loved him. She could deny it to everyone else if she wanted, but if nothing else, she would always remain true to herself. And she knew that she loved him. It wasn't one of those, "Maybe, just a little bit," kinds of things, either. She'd gotten over that stage ages ago.

And the funny thing was that he loved her, too; it was obvious to anyone who saw them in the same room together, or who saw their eyes meet, or who saw the encouraging and sympathetic smiles she gave him when he was given another stack of paperwork, and the one he gave her back.

When Scieszka asked her why she didn't just tell him how she felt, she replied that she was his Lieutenant and he was her Colonel; it would be too…improper. Of course she didn't get it until Riza compared it to one book or another. But if he confessed to her, that would be a different story.

Unfortunately, he was too afraid that she would shoot his head off or something.

And the guys were always trying to get him to confess to her. "You'd better do it before someone else does!", "There's no comparison to her!", "It's so obvious you two like each other, even I can tell!", "If you marry her, then I can have a girlfriend again because you won't be able to steal her!" they all told him. Obviously, some were more encouraging than others.

But he said that he'd wait for her. As her superior, he didn't want her to feel as if he was forcing her to go out with him. Because that would just be improper.

So she waited for him, and he waited for her, neither knowing that the other was waiting for them, yet with everyone around them waiting on them both.

They loved each other, but they wouldn't admit it. Because a love between a Colonel and Lieutenant was just improper.
