Marcus's world had been destroyed in an instant and it had taken leaving the City of Light to remember why.
The City of Light had been a wonderful place for him while she was there. Talking, laughing, strolling through the city…..
But then she wasn't there anymore. He had heard a scream from behind and had turned just in time to see the fear on her knew from A.l.i.e that when a person disappears from the city then that meant that they had died but he couldn't figure out why that information made him hurt inside.
He knew why when he was released from A.l.i.e's control though. Marcus knew exactly what he had lost and it was killing him inside.
His other half.
His light.
The woman he loved was dead.
Marcus covered his face with his hands, trying to block out the memory of her fear. He had failed her and nothing would ever be right in his world again. The thought of living without her was unbearable.
Then Marcus felt a hand on his shoulder…...
