Swimming Demons

Deryn threw her fathers flowers at the adjoining seat and held Alek's hands trembling.
"I don't know If I could do it, Alek!" She cried despairingly, but held her head high, " ,but... I will, I will." Deryn broke off resignedly.
It was Halloween night and the happy couple of 4 years were visiting Deryn's Da's grave.
This was especially hard for Deryn since she had a very strong relationship with her father.
Alek knew this but he prompted her to do this anyways. It was better for her to face her demons.
Alek looked upon Deryn with comforting eyes.
"You can do It!" he cried encouragingly.
Swirls of mist attacked their cabs windows ferociously, leaving tiny tears trailing down the window.
"It's been 5 years Alek! FIVE! Please don't make me do this, please!"
Alek braced himself, " I know it hurts but you have to face this, we faced mine now it's your turn, you need closure."
Suddenly, the cab stopped.
A hoarse voice croaked, " Tis be yer stop, aye?"
Alek got out, nodded and helped a trembling Deryn out towards her fathers grave.
Deryn stopped Alek and went on alone, " Keep the cab warm, yes?"

Deryn knelt at her fathers grave her lips parted in silent screams of grief.
Tears fell down from her eyes like rain. " WHy?!" she thought, " Why couldn't he stay with me? Why couldn't he?!". Alek watched from a far, somberly. This thing had to work out on its own, he reasoned.
In a voice not too unlike a little girls Deryn said, " I wish you never left Da. I miss you so much!" Her voice crescendo ed, "Why did you leave me?!"
Deryn beat the ground with her fists, shaking with racking sobs, screaming "WHY?!".
Unexpectedly a hand broke free from the yolk of the grave and grabbed her.
She screamed so high it was unearthly, it was the beginning of the Walking Dead.

Alt. ending
Deryn slowly composed her self over the next 5 minutes. She had to accept he was gone, there was no helping it. No denying it...
This demon wouldn't drown though, it knew how to swim.
