He wasn't sure how to react. Was he upset that Bonnie was actually dead? That she'd been dead for months and no one had known except for Jeremy.
In a way, he told himself he was relieved. It meant that he no longer had to suppress any feelings he had for the witch who openly detested him. He could fully concentrate on his issues with Elena and Stefan's creepy destiny bond thing that all originated from that stupid Silas.
Damon sighed as he sat down on his bed. Dead. The word rang through his head repeatedly, but he still couldn't wrap his mind around Bonnie being dead.
"Elena's going to melt down when she finds out," he heard himself say, though he sounded distant to himself. He also realized that he didn't very much care about her feelings at that moment. He ran his right hand through his black hair.
No, he really couldn't understand that she was dead. It wasn't like death was a new concept-he'd been alive since the Civil War!
But this death seemed too close to home, even worse than when he thought Katherine was dead all of those years ago. He realized, as he sat in his bedroom all alone, that Bonnie, as annoying as the witch had been (especially when she'd learn that migraine trick) there'd been something about her that had been intriguing, maybe even more so than Elena.
Had it been the fact that he wasn't fighting for her attention, as he had with Katherine and Elena? Bonnie had also had her own mind, however nagging she had been.
He laid down in bed, wishing he had the ability to see ghosts like Jeremy. Then he wouldn't have to have these feelings in his stomach about Alaric and Bonnie. He could just see them whenever they wanted to be seen.
He let out a bark of a laugh. If he was able to see ghosts, he was sure they'd be nagging at him all of the time.
No, it was better that he couldn't see them.
It was better for that feeling in his stomach that he wasn't reminded of the people he'd loved.
Author's Note:Just a quick oneshot that takes place the night Damon finds out Bonnie is dead. I Nothing ever goes right for him :/
