There's a picture of my girl hanging in my bunk. Her smile is wide and eyes are sparkling. It's been so long since I've seen her. We've been on the road for about two months now and I would give anything to get back to her. I want to hold her in my arms and kiss her all over. She's my everything.

I stare at this picture every night before I drift off to sleep. But I don't really need this picture. She's been permanently imaged in my brain: her dirty blonde hair, her blue eyes, her tiny hands and feet. She's too beautiful to forget.

It's been a long day for us and I would just love to get some rest. But as I start to sleep my mobile starts vibrating in my pocket. I grab it and flip it open. "Hello?"

"Hi darling, how is everything?" my mum's voice greets my ears.

"Hi mum, everything is okay. How's everything back at home?"

"Things are good. How are the boys?"

I chuckle. "They're good; they send their love. How's my girl?"

My mum sighs softly. "She misses you; she hasn't been the same since you've gone."

"I know, but we'll be home in a week. She's isn't around, is she?" I ask hopefully. I glance at my watch and know what my mother's going to say.

"No, she's in bed fast asleep."

I sigh disappointedly, "Oh, okay. Well, tell her I miss her, yeah? Tell her I'll be home soon and tell her I love her."

"Harry hold on a second," my mum says.

I hear some shuffling on her line and hope the line doesn't get disconnected. I sit patiently waiting to see what's going on. And finally a tiny voice comes on the line. "Hello?"

A smile spreads across my face as her voice comes on the line. "Hey baby."

"Daddy!" she shrieks into the phone. My smile gets wider as she continues to talk. "I miss you so much daddy. Are you coming home soon?"

"Yeah baby, I'll be home in a week. I miss you too. How's daddy's favorite girl? You being good for granny?"

She laughs loudly, "Yes, she took me to the London Zoo today. We saw the McFly gorilla too!"

"Oh, yeah?" I chuckle. "Well, what animal was your favorite?"

"I liked the giraffes. They remind me of you!"

I laughed and smiled at her thinking I looked like a giraffe. "Okay, sweetie, well I'm glad you're being good, but its way past your bedtime, alright? I love you, I miss you and I'll be home soon, okay?"

"Okay, I love you and miss you too daddy," she yawns into the phone.

I laugh lightly, "Night, baby."

"Night-night daddy."

I heard rustling again on my mum's side of the phone and I looked up at the picture of my baby girl on my wall. I ran my finger over it and smiled happy that I got to talk to her.

"Harry, you still there?" my mum's voice came on the line

"Yeah, I'm still here mum. Thank you," I said feeling tears prick my eyes.

"I know what it's like not being able to see the ones you love. Just come home safely. She needs here daddy around," my mother said giving me her mother-knows-best voice.

"I'll be home soon enough. Love you mum."

"Love you too son."

I hung up the phone and replaced it in my pocket. I smiled to myself knowing that I was one day closer to being able to hug my girl and tell her that I love her.
