For her birthday that year, she insisted on having a stuffed turtle.

"A turtle, darling?"

"Yes please, mother. With a blue bandana over his eyes."

Her mother was perplexed by the request. It was an unusual animal compared to the stuffed menagerie that lined her shelves. It would assuredly stick out, a little green thing in a sea of pinks, creams, and grays.

Regardless, on the morning of her birthday, a perfectly square little box with a satin blue ribbon awaited her. Inside, as requested, sat the little green turtle with the blue bandana. It wasn't the right shade of blue, the girl thought, but it would most certainly do. The child smiled.

"Hello, Mr. Turtle! I'm so glad you could join us! Are you ready for your cup of tea?" With a polite thank you and curtsy to her parents, she bounded upstairs to set the table for her guest.

That night, after she had been tucked in and long thought asleep, she quietly tip-toed out of her bed. She stepped up to her window, pressing her nose against the glass pane. The stars were shining brightly, and she hugged Mr. Turtle tightly. She looked for him every night, hoping that he would return. And every night, she was disappointed to be met with the quiet city skyline. After a few minutes, she sighed and kissed the top of the stuffy's head.

"I'm glad I have you, Mr. Turtle, to help remind me of my most favorite guest."
