Twisted Fates
By Eledhwen Finarfin
The red sun will rise, the silver moon will set,
upon his bleak and lonely flet.
From sapphire eyes fall no tears,
though all his life, he was haunted by fears.
For him, he truly believes there is no hope,
no way out, no way to cope.
This thing called 'love' does not exist,
his fair skin untouched, his lips never kissed.
Surrounded by others, and somehow still alone,
eternally searching was his soul for a home.
"Am I doomed to live forever, and yet never find life?"
his only escape, the cold steel of a knife.
Or to a fate far worse than even death,
to wander forever in a forgotten world, without feeling, emotion, warmth, or breath.
Save for the tortured darkness of melancholy,
to endlessly scream and plead for the swift release of fatality.
So he poured all of his pain into his skill with his bow,
and yet.... there is something he does not know...
That another that has walked hollow and empty for so many years,
somehow felt his unfathomable sadness, the same dark thoughts, and all of his fears.
He did not know that she would give up everything just to find,
her forgotten love in dreams she had left far behind.
He walked amongst her dreams and dwelled in her thoughts,
and guided her, a guardian angel, when she felt lost.
Haldir did not realize this girl had watched him for so very long,
and over time her silent love for him grew even more strong.
He had never seen her face, and knew not her name,
theirs was a timeless story, a tale that never changed, and remained always the same.
If they could only find each other, their pain would cease,
and they would find in their broken hearts true love's sweet release.
Over the land, and across the sea,
Lies a place that in dreams is revealed to me.
Though it cannot be seen with eyes alone,
I somehow know that this 'earth' is my home.
So I lay myself down, and let every night let go to reality,
and travel to a place so far a way, the realm of the imaginary.
A place where immortal elves walk beneath the star-domed sky,
For all eternity, even in death, this is where my heart will lie.
