"Wait!"
Terra halted as she heard the tiny bird almost get crushed. She rolled her eyes, what point of not-wanting-to-see-your-face-ever-again did he not understand? Was he always this stupid and ignorant? Maybe this was the real reason why he didn't see that joining Slade would be a better decision then staying with the Titans.
She didn't understand in the first place why Slade wanted him. Like, Robin was only human. Nothing more and nothing less. Even Starfire seemed like a better choice. Yet, a man like Slade chose Robin for a reason and Terra couldn't find it. Robin was impressive on very low levels, he was smart and strong, no superpowers what so ever. Terra had thought Slade would've picked someone like Raven but no, it was Robin.
And sometimes, Terra could see something glint in his eye when he saw Robin. It was hard to figure but when she recognized it, it shocked her. The small thing that flashes through Slades eye whenever he sees Robin is possession. But whenever Slade looked at her, she saw . . . disappoint.
What did Robin have that she doesn't? Better yet, what does she have that Robin doesn't? Terra had powers, common sense, and respect and gratitude for those who offered greatness, like Slade.
A small cough broke her train of thought.
Oh, Terra thought, right Robin.
She tossed the rock aside hearing loud crash. To think, Terra mused, that sound with Robin's bones. Terra pulled on a wicked grin as she towered over the former leader of the Teen Titans. "Begging for mercy, Robin?" Terra chuckled hoping Slade was watching. "I thought that was beneath you, but I thought the Boy Wonder was above making stupid friends."
"I never beg for myself."
Terra raised a brow. She seriously doubted that.
"I only beg for others," Robin coughed.
"Then you should rethink your morals," Terra scoffed folding her arms. She watched as Robin got up slowly, still on high alert and getting ready for any attacks. When he did get up, he made no effort to pull out a weapon or take a fighting stance.
"I didn't understand at first," Robin started, "why you betrayed us for Slade. How you killed off one-by-one my only friends, how you're proud of it too. But as I look back I see what happened."
"I realized what pathetic people you were and dumped you."
Robin shook his head with a small smile that sent a shiver down Terra's spine, "No, you were afraid."
Terra's eyes widened and took a step back, only to widen his small. Rage pumped in her as she let the words sent in like venom
Afraid? Her? Robin was insane! She killed all four Titans and she works with Slade. Even working with Slade creeps her out a bit but not scare! And what would she be afraid of? Him? The Titans? That was a laughable joke.
"You lost your marbles!" Terra huffed. "I fear nothing! Not you or even Slade!" Okay that was kinda a lie, Slade still scares her sometimes but only when he's in a bad mood.
"Lair." Robin chuckled. "Everyone has a fear; it's what makes us human and live. You fear judgement and rejectment, everything you did and do screams it. But let me take a guess, Slade taunted you of how we wouldn't want you if we found out that you couldn't fully control your powers? Then he probably swooped in and told you a bunch of crap that mad you sway into his hands, yes?"
"Shut up!" Terra screeched as rage over took her body. She felt a rush as she flung boulders into the Boy Wonder, who was knocked back. He stayed down, obviously in too much pain to move, and coughed up crimson milk that stained the ground.
She towered over his fallen form, "You're wrong, you're wrong about everything! Slade got me to see that I'm too strong for the likes of you, he just helped me gain something none of you could possibly teach me; control."
Terra waited for a dumb lecture about right and wrong but instead she was answered with Robin barely getting up.
"Then . . . what now, Terra?" Robin shrugged. "You finish me off then go back to Slade? Then what? Your nothing but pawn in his game, a tool he used for his own needs and blinded you with your fears and empty praises to see that. But the sad thing is Terra; no one will ever really fear you."
"Your insane," Terra narrowed her eyes. She was no pawn or tool, she was Slades apprentice.
"I might be who really knows? But I'll tell you something you should know. No one will fear you; they'll only fear the one you're 'working' for. How do I know this? Because that's all I was in Gotham, if someone were to see me they assumed Batman was close, they feared him not me. So just like you, when someone see's you they assume Slade is close."
Terra let those words sink into her head. She was to be feared! With or without Slade. But was it true? That everyone will only fear Slade and not her? No . . . Robin was only talking crazy, he was not meant to be feared. But anyone smart should fear her.
"Your all talk and no show when it gets down to the point, aren't you?" Terra said. "You're just a little bird who flew to far from home, nothing to be feared about." Terra lifted a rock, bashing it against the small bird again and again till his breaths went down to whizzing. More blood spilled out of his mouth as Terra raised multiple rocks of all sizes above him.
"I'm sick of hearing and tried you talk," Terra smiled wickedly as she looked down at the once proud leader, "any last words?"
Robin seemed to close his eyes like if praying then a strange smile spread over his face. He mumbled out a few words but ones Terra could still faintly hear, "Enjoy living in a shadow that controls your life."
"Bye bye, Robin." Terra sneered. Removing her attention from the rocks, she watched them burry him and crush him. Smiling at her work. Now nothing could ruin her perfect life. The Titans couldn't stop her and Slade couldn't take Robin in any more as an apprentice either. Now he had to look at her with the proud like he always did when he saw or heard Robin.
But something snaked itself inside her thoughts that mad her throat dry.
"Enjoy living in a shadow that controls your life."
Did he mean Slade? No, he couldn't control her . . . no one could! She chose this life, just as much as she could chose leaving it. She wanted to destroy the Titans and wanted to join Slade. It was all her choice. But as she continued thinking this she felt something her head whisper; lair.
Terra took in a deep breath and made her way back to headquarters. Hopefully Slade will be pleased.
