The phone rings a look of pure dread and horror washes over Grover's face "Lou you have to answer it" Steve says handing him the phone.

Where's my money?

"I don't know " growing frustrated Grover points to the open van doors revealing a lack of cargo. "You're seeing what I'm seeing. It's not here" seeing that Lou was about to lose his cool which would not help the situation any Steve took the phone.

"Ian"

Commander McGarret so nice to here your voice again.

"Ian let Samantha go. You want a hostage come take me." ignoring the bewildered glares garnered from the rest of the team Steve continued "Look she's a teenage girl what good is she to you huh, think about it with her you've got Grover in your pocket. With me you've got the state of Hawaii in your pocket. Is it really that hard of a choice?" There was a long pause and Ian considered his options Steve had almost given up thinking Ian wasn't going to take the deal then...

Fine, you want to play hero commander, this is how it's going to work. You are going to tell your friends that I didn't take the deal then you are going to drive away I'll call you when you've done as I asked. And McGarret, don't even think about tipping them off in any way I will kill her.

Hoping to sell the "rejection" Steve started to speak and then pretend to be cut off when Ian hung up the phone. "He wouldn't take the deal" He hated lying to his team but this was the only way to make sure everyone was safe. He just hoped they would be able to forgive him one day.

Steve jumped into his truck and drove off as in the direction of the 5-0 headquarters, when his phone rang.

Danny couldn't believe what he was hearing if Ian took the deal no one would have to worry about it because he was going to kill Steve. How could he be so stupid? What was he thinking always having to be a freaking self-sacrificing , shoot first ask questions latter, never wait for backup... idiot.

"He wouldn't take the deal" thank god Danny thought What the hell were you thinking McGarret. They all got back into their cars Danny knew something was up but didn't have time to dwell on it because they still needed to find Grover's daughter. By the time he got to his Camaro and started it up Steve was already gone on his way back to HQ he assumed.
