Gray was walking down the road on his way to the Fairy Tail guild. It seemed oddly quiet. Not that he cared, but still, a little too quiet to be normal. It wasn't quiet for long, though. he could hear Natsu's voice yelling at someone - probably Gajeel - from a mile away. His boyfriend was always picking on Gajeel now, since he didn't feel comfortable fighting Gray. Gray didn't blame him, but why did he need to fight at all? That was something the Ice Mage would never understand.
When he walked into the guild, Natsu threw himself into Gray's unexpected arms.
"It's about time you got here!" Natsu pecked Gray's lips quickly.
"Sorry, I woke up late.." Gray chuckled and led Natsu to the bar.
"Oh... Well wake up earlier next time!"
Gray couldn't help but laugh. Sometimes Natsu wasn't the smartest person..
"What's so funny?"
"You." Gray sat down at the far end of the bar and pulled Natsu into the seat next to him. "Mira..?"
Mira came from the bar's stockroom, cheery as always. "What can I get you, Gray?"
"Ice, please."
"Alright. And for you, Natsu?"
"Fire!" Natsu hadn't realized he'd stood up when he shouted until he heard Gray and Mira laughing at him. He frowned.
Gray immediately stopped laughing and pulled Natsu back down by the arm. "You know we didn't mean to make fun of you."
"I know, but I don't like it when you laugh at me."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." They both looked at Mira, who was watching them intently. "The drinks?" Gray said, trying to get her to go away.
"Oh, right! Sometimes you two are just so interesting!" Mira skipped back into the stockroom to gather what she needed.
"Why don't we do something to take your mind off things?"
"Like what?"
"How about we go sit by the water?" Gray suggested.
"Alright, sounds like fun!" Natsu kissed Gray's cheek as Mira came back with their 'drinks'.
"Here you go!" She set the glasses down in front of them.
"Thanks," They both said at the same time. Natsu gulped down his fire while Gray crunched the ice between his teeth.
The Ice Mage stood up and grabbed Natsu's wrist. "You ready?"
"Yep!" A faint blush covered Natsu's face as Gray dragged him to the door.

~Later That Day~

As Gray and Natsu arrived at the river, a feather fell on the Dragon Slayer's head.
"A feather.." He looked up to see a bird hovering over him. The bird chirped and flew away. "That was weird..."
"What was?" Gray looked at him with a confused look on his face; he hadn't seen the bird.
Natsu held the feather up to show Gray. "This."
The Ice Mage looked at the feather for a long moment. "That feather looks oddly familiar... Oh, it's from the ancient bird called the 'Lover's Bird'."
"Why's it called that?"
"Whoever sees one truly loves their partner." Gray smiled.
Natsu blushed a deep shade of red and avoided his gaze. "Well it's true.. I do love you. More than anything."
"I love you too. In fact, I love you so much.." Gray got down on one knee and pulled a ring from his pocket. "I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Natsu, will you marry me?
Natsu forgot yow to breathe. "Y-Yes," he managed to choke out as a few tears ran down his face.
Gray slipped the ring on Natsu's finger and came up to hug his fiance.
After the two stopped crying, they sat under the same tree the "Lover Bird' had its nest in.
"Are we going to tell the guild? Natsu asked curiously.
"Do you want to? They're going to find out eventually."
"I think we should tell them now."
"But what would we say?" Gray blinked a few times.
"I dunno, we'll wing it!" Natsu stood up and grabbed Gray's arm. The next thing Gray knew they were running back to the guild to share their news.
