"Lucy, are you asleep yet?" a little voiced echoed in the cotton candy colored room. "Is that a trick question?" a black haired girl responded as she sat up in her bed, clutching onto the red squared covers sleepily. "I had a nightmare, Lucy...can I sleep with you?" the child's voice questioned as he quivered quietly, tears rolled down his baby blue eyes in sadness.
"There there, Rerun…climb up on the bed," Lucy answered to her brother. "Good thing you're awake…Mom and Dad didn't hear my crying and Linus can sleep through anything" Rerun replied, sighing as more salty tears trickled down his cheeks. Lucy then clutched Rerun to her chest and told him, "Rerun, it's okay…come stop your crying; it'll be alright…just take my hand, hold it tight; I will protect you from all around you; I will be here, don't you cry"
Rerun looked at his sister in awe, as he had never heard her sing before. "For one so small, you seem so strong; my arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm; this bond between us can't be broken; I will be here, don't you cry" the black haired, bratty fussbudget continued, caressing her five-year-old artist of a brother lovingly. "Cause you'll be in my heart, yes you'll be in my heart, from this day on; now and forever more" she sang as Rerun's blue eyes began to flutter shut. "That's *yawn* nice, Lucy" a dozy Rerun yawned as sleep began to overcome him. "You can't fall asleep yet, Rerun; I wasn't done singing," Lucy bossed. "Sorry…" Rerun replied, blushing in guilt and shame.
"Oh you'll be in my heart no matter what they say; you'll be here in my heart always…they'll see in time, I know" Lucy chanted caringly as Rerun cuddled into her cozy chest. "When destiny calls you, you must be strong; I may not be with you but you've got to hold on…they'll see in time, I know…we'll show them together" the eight-year-old girl continued singing as she cradled Little Rerun the way their mother would.
"Cause you'll be in my heart, believe me; you'll be in my heart from this day on, now and forever more" the black haired girl sang sweetly to her brother. "Yes you'll be in my heart no matter what they say; you'll be here in my heart…always" Lucy finished, looking at Rerun; who was on his way to Nod. "Goodnight, Rerun" Lucy whispered, tiptoeing out of her room to go sleep elsewhere. "L...Lucy?" another boy's voice asked.
"Oh great…" Lucy thought as she looked into the room the voice came from. "Lucy...were you…singing?" the voice questioned. "Yeah; why, Linus? Shouldn't you be asleep?" Lucy barked quietly as to not disturb Rerun's blissful slumber. "I thought I heard you singing and I was right" Linus responded. "It woke you up?" a confused Lucy questioned, cocking her head sideways. "No…I thought I was having a weird dream" her seven-year-old brother-and middle child-replied, going back to bed. +"I can't stand it" Lucy sighed.
