The Yearly 365 Challenge

Prompt #121 (Item) Car

Chic jerked the door open and slipped into the seat. "Let's go." He growled as Kevin slid into the drivers's seat.

Kevin sighed as he closed the door; and buckled his seat belt. "You know that I'm not even going to put the key in until you buckle up." He looked over at the older blonde.

Chic growled as he jerked the seatbelt around and slammed it into the buckle. He winced as the seat belt leater hit his chest hold. "Let's go." He demanded yet again.

Kevin nodded and turned to the front. He started the car, and backed down the driveway.

Chic quickly turned the radio on. He quickly found the hard rock station and just managed to keep himself from jerking the volume all the way up. But he was still mindfilled that Kevin needed to pay attention to his driving … so he managed to keep the volume down to a lower than normal level. He sat back in the seat. "I just needed to get out of that damn house."

"I understand Chic." Kevin replied as he made the turn to head towards the outskirts.

A cell phone ranged out.

Chic swallowed as he jerked his cell from his jeans pockets. He was about to shut the power off but then paused as his sister's name showned through the angry glare of his eyes. He sighed as he pressed accept and lifted the cell to his ear. "Hey Betty." He willed his voice not to bit out at his sister. After all she wasn't the one whom he was deeply angry with.

"Chic?" Betty's worried voice hit his ear.

"I had to get out of the house. I'm not leaving you again. I promise you." Chic swallowed the hard lump. "I just had to get out of there."

"Where are you going?" Betty breathed.

"Kevin and I are going to be out a little to the south of Sweetwater river. How about you and Veronica … or perhaps Archie and Jughead come join us hmm." Chic rested his head against the back of the seat.

"Ronnie and I are actually out here all ready." Betty answered.

Chic felt some of the tension ease off of his chest at the note that perhaps neither of the boys would be joining them. He liked Archie and Jughead … they were family to him … but right now it felt like it would be too much to have them around. "Okay where are you guys?"

Betty told him where there were … and promised that they won't leave until he and Kevin got to them. Chic lowered his phone after he finished speaking to Betty. "Hope you don't mind Kev?"

"No I don't mind." Kevin made the turn that would get them to where Betty and Veronica would be waiting.

Chic sighed as his eyes closed weary. He just needed sometime to get his thoughts, and feelings under control. He didn't want to yell at his sister the moment he set eyes on her. After all this wasn't her fault that he was so damn angry at their mother.
