"Hel-lo," said the Doctor, leaning out the TARDIS door, holding onto the doorframe with one hand. "We've got something out here..." - he waved the Sonic Screwdriver in an arc as if checking for signal - "And it's not giving off a bi-wavelength signal, or a tri-wavelength," he added. "Hmm..."
"Shall I just stay in here then?" asked Rose, impatiently crossing her arms. "What is it?"
"I don't know," he began.
"Something the brilliant Doctor hasn't heard of? That'll be good..."
Rose pushed past him and looked out into space, knowing she'd be able to breathe. They were floating past a technicolor nebula, but a small item floating nearby caught her eye.
"It's a stuffed dinosaur," she said, surprised.
"No it's not." The Doctor waved his hand at her dismissively. He continued peering at it, occasionally closing one eye, then the other. The TARDIS slowed to a stop in front of the newborn suns, now that its pilot was distracted.
"Yes it is," she insisted. "Look!"
"It's got to have some relation to the galaxy, maybe it's a veiled probe? But no, that civilization died out centuries ago..."
"Doctor."
"I have to check the computer, if I do a quick search of the local records, I might be able to find traces of it..."
"Doctor!"
"What?" he asked, frowning. He took off his glasses with one hand.
"It's a stuffed Stegosaurus, I learned about them in primary school. Trust me, it's a dinosaur."
"But why, why would there be a stuffed dinosaur in the Crab Nebula?" The Doctor stared out the open door, furrowing his brow.
Rose grinned at him. "Let's find out."
