Ai Haibara, the teenage scientist that turned into a child, had been adopted by the Kudo's and now live in the big mansion with her older brother Shinichi Kudo, and sometimes with her celebrity parents; depending if they are away from work or on their romantic getaways or simply living their life in New York. Since it is mostly her and her brother, they have gotten into a well-oiled routine for breakfast. As always, Ai would prepare eggs, toast, fruit, or cereals, Shinichi would prepare the coffee and set the table.
This particular morning is different, Shinichi's girlfriend had decided to come by and prepare breakfast for them. The perfect Ran Mouri had prepared a simple but much more traditional breakfast meal for them. Everything was going well until Ran had told Ai that she couldn't have her coffee.
Ai was reaching for a cup of coffee when Ran took the coffee cup and replaced it with a cup of juice. "Ai-chan, coffees are for adults. You should drink some orange juice so you will feel better."
This made Ai pause and turn to her brother, giving him a death glare that screams "Control your girlfriend or else".
"Erm... Ran, its alright for her to have coffee. Mom and Dad let her." Shinichi tries to get his girlfriend to give back the coffee to his little sister.
"Honestly, you've been spoiling her, coffee is bad for growing children." Ran chide Shinichi before crouching to Ai's height. "Ai-chan is still growing right now. When you become an adult, then you can have coffee okay?"
Begrudgingly, Ai muttered fine under her breath and continued her day grumpily without a drop of caffeine in her body.
Haibara runs on coffee, so a day without her morning cup of joe is torture for her, and simply made her grumpy and cynical. Therefore, right after school she parted ways with her friends and start to prepare for her plan to make Ran pay for taking her coffee away and Shinichi for not getting it back for her. But first, she would need a few items and shop at the mall for new clothes.
The next morning, Ran had stopped by the Kudo's house once again, when she found an unknown beautiful woman in the kitchen. She was wearing a white oversized dress shirt, that seems to be Shinichi's, as she waits for coffee to brew. "Want some coffee?" the stranger asked Ran and gave her a suggestive look. Just then, Shinichi emerges from the bathroom while rubbing a towel to his wet hair. "Shower is all yours." This made Ran burst into tears and ran away from a very confused Shinichi.
He rushed to the kitchen to see what had upset his girlfriend when he found the adult version of Ai Haibara. "WHAT?" he screamed at her.
Shiho Miyano, nonchalantly shrugged as she drinks her freshly brewed addiction. "Coffee's are for adults Kudo."
