A/N: welp! id started writing wendip week, but motivation has been running low. i'll post this, but at the moment im currently working on a different fic for an entirely different fandom
if you like transformers (animated, 2007-2009) you'll be excited. if you do like it but dont like bumblebee/prowl, you will not. so that's a headsup there!
Prompt: School
Freshman year was about to begin.
Dipper was quite excited, just as Mabel was. It was rare that both twins were on the same level of excitement for the same thing. Even school shopping had been fun. The twins practically filled their parents cart with folders, binders, and all sorts of pencils and things of the sort. The weekend before school, Mabel spent many hours carefully planning her sweaters for the school year. Of course, the first week of sweaters had already been knit. Day one was a pencil, day two was an apple, day three was an eraser, day four was book, and day five was an entire front view of the entire school.
Dipper, on the other hand, quickly discovered that melding with his excitement was a strong anxiety. He tried not to ponder on it, or else his stomach would clench in a fury of burning hot and ice cold, and spent his time organizing his room for a work space until... It was too organized and he had to adjust it again. But then he was done. And he couldn't think of anything else to take his mind off of things. But Wendy probably could.
Sophomore year was about to begin.
Wendy was not excited. Although, the truest statement would be she was excited to get it over with. Not to start it. Her first year of high school wasn't too terrible. She finished with near straight B's with one B+! Not too shabby. But she was bored out of her mind waiting for it to just... Start and finish already. Something to keep her mind off the... Just boring-ness of everything. School was boring. It just was! Same routine over and over. At least over the summer Dipper and Mabel had been there to shake things up a bit!
What a wild summer. Not everyday you're part of some prophecy to defeat an evil giant pyramid that's supposed to save the world from its end. The fearamid was well named. The uneasiness in you stomach at seeing people you've known your whole life... Frozen and helpless, stacked in the shape of a giant throne, and knowing you're supposed to be their savior. Not alone though, the twins, both sets, Soos, Pacifica, Gideon, McGucket, and Robbie were all under the same pressure. Wild. But that was over now, and same old boring Gravity Falls quickly came back after the "Never mind All That" act was passed. Wendy couldn't think of anything interesting or fun. But Dipper probably could.
As she reached for her phone, she was surprised to see that someone was already calling, and someone was Dipper Pines himself.
"Hey, man!"
"Hey, Wendy!"
"Whatcha callin' about? Stress week before school not busy enough for you?"
"Hah... Kinda the opposite. I've got nothing to do so I'm just all anxious. It's so bad I feel sick."
Wendy's tone immediately became soft and calming.
"Hey, hey, don't worry about it, okay? What's got you so worked up?"
"I don't know and that's the problem. I think it's about school? Waitwaitno, I'm sure it's about school but I don't know why it's about school..." His voice was so strung she could hear how tight his throat was.
"Well, I'm a little stuck myself. Super bored. We could... Do something together? Keep your mind busy, keep me from being bored. How does that sound?" She spoke so softly his heart almost slowed to a stop. He nodded a couple times, realized she couldn't see that, and said,
"Yeah! Yeah... That sounds nice. What do you... Wanna do?"
"You ever play Webkinz?" She laughed when he responded.
"Webkinz? You wanna play Webkinz? We're talking about the same thing, right? Those stuffed animals you'd buy at the store- they had tags on them? That you'd enter on the website and they'd become a virtual pet?"
"That'd be the one. So, you play it?"
"I... Not in like... Years..."
"Well, they've got like... Two player bowling on there. Lotsa other games too."
There was a silence, and then a sigh.
"I... You sure you wanna play Webkinz?"
"Bud, it's soothing. Fun little animals with rooms you can decorate? Great stress relief. Now come on, I've already logged in-"
"What?"
"-but you can't play versus unless you're buddies. So I'll shoot you a request-"
"I'm not even logged in yet! I gotta remember my passwor- my password and my username! Gah!"
Wendy laughed on the other end of the line. He was definitely far from thoughts of anxiety and school. Her mission was accomplished.
...
Plus, she had someone to keep her from ultimate boredom.
A/N: it's 2018 and i still play webkinz almost religiously. an old friend got me back into it, which is what this chapter is about. helped her calm down, and gave me something to do. bonus: i put Wendy as starting her sophomore year because i'm that kid in school who's in the higher end of the ages, hence being 16 sophomore year. just a little thing to relate to.
