Harry stood against the far wall of the Gryffindor common room. Arms folded across his chest, the famous wizard's brilliant emerald eyes spilled onto the far wall. Sighing heavily, Harry resigned his thoughts.

There was no way he could be his.

No way at all.

Heart aching within his chest, Harry let another prolonged sigh wash over his lips. Pushing himself away from the wall, he made his way through the empty common room to the entrance.

Stepping out into the abandoned hallways, the portrait of the fat lady swung shut to hide the gateway to Gryffindor tower. "What are you doing up so late?" The fat lady scolded. Harry ignored her. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his muggle jeans, the black-haired wizard headed straight down the hallway. The fat lady appeared put out that she was being ignored. "I outta tell the headmaster about this!" Harry saw the empty threat for what it was and continued walking.

Several turnabouts and moving staircases later, Harry's mind suddenly snapped back to reality. Through one of the tall castle windows in a different tower, the full moon shown onto the clean stone floor. Stopping dead, Harry turned to stare hypnotically out at the alluring moon. The full moon... Lupin... Sirius... Harry Potter's heart ached at the thought of his godfather. Clutching his hand on his chest, he gulped and moved closer to the window; almost as if he were stepping up to the plate in facing a new challenger.

The moon cast it's breathtaking beauty on the castle grounds. Although it was well past midnight, the moon's brightness nearly tricked the gullible soul into believing daylight had never truly left. Harry felt at peace watching the moon, as if by staring at it, he could find all the answers to any question he sought. It was a shockingly intoxicating sight, the full moon; shining so brightly and beautifully, and yet so far out of reach. From the corner of his mind, Harry wondered if anyone had lost their sanity while staring at the moon.

At that very moment in time, everything seemed so clear to Harry. With the moon shining through in the deep secretive blue night sky, Harry felt at peace. He knew he could never obtain or hold onto his best friend's heart-- and, while watching the full moon, that knowledge seemed irrelevant. Everything felt in harmony and beautiful as the moon continued to shine. Letting out a sigh of calmness, Harry finally allowed a small smile to succumb his lips.
