It was a difficult task to try and wake up Carlos, but Cecil managed to do it. Grey clouds have been threatening rain for days. A thunderstorm had brewed up in the middle of the night with a loud crash of lightning followed by a boom of thunder. This awoke Cecil immediately.
"Carlos?" Cecil whispered as he poked his boyfriend's shoulder.

No response. Only snoring.
"Carlos," He repeated.
Carlos shifted his weight, but to no avail. He was still sleeping. Cecil then took the bag of realistically fake spiders he kept under his pillow and placed a few spiders on Carlos' face. Carlos has yet to show any action other than continuing to sleep. Cecil gave an annoyed sigh right before another clash of thunder and lightning. He cried out in terror.
Carlos quickly sat up and turned to Cecil. "Is everything okay?" he said.

Cecil clung onto Carlos' shirt and buried his face in his chest as another clash of thunder and lightning sounded. Carlos nodded in understanding and embraced his boyfriend and rubbed his back. Cecil matched his breathing with Carlos' as they both sat there. Cecil always jumped a bit at the thunder and lightning.
"It'll be over soon, Cecil. It sounds like the storm is moving passed us now. Listen," Carlos said.

Soon after, the sounds of the thunder and lightning were getting more spread apart as the heart of the storm moved away.

Cecil soon fell asleep to the sound of the rain on the roof, and Carlos' heartbeat. Carlos stayed up the rest of the night, holding Cecil.

Rainstorms don't happen often in the desert town of Night Vale, but when they do, it brings those who are close, even closer.
