"Never understood myself. How can I expect to understand him?" Merrill asked herself as she walked through the woods. Was this a dream? Did Dr. Murdoch give her a day off? She couldn't remember. everything seemed blurry and faint.

"Understand what? " Drew asked from behind her.

"You." Merrill found herself saying bluntly.

"Sometimes things are better not to be understood" Drew sighed as he took a step towards her.

"But I want so much to know you. To understand your feelings. To get into your heart " Merrill cried softly.

"Merrill. why do you want to understand me?" Drew asked, his eyes glazed with the moonlight above them.

"Because." Merrill began. But she could not finish. A bright light shot from the sky and danced around Merrill in a circle. Trapping her inside. Merrill spun around looking to see if Drew was okay.

"DREW!" Merrill yelled.

"Merrill. this is what you wanted. To understand me. my heart. my soul" This is it. I am burned by light. My heart is being flamed by the light. That is why I cannot love. Sherry. sweet Sherry. Why did I have to leave her" Drew cried.

"You know as well as I do that, that could have NEVER worked! Why do you beat yourself up for that?" Merrill questioned angrilly.

"Merrill. you could never understand." Drew winced. He looked in pain.

"Drew! I love you! Give me a chance to understand you! Love cannot tear anything apart! Please Drew!" Merrill cried as tears sprung in her eyes.

Drew stood silent. The light disappeared. Drew sat on the ground like a child. Tears followed the same path down his cheeks.

"Merrill, I. I never knew. How could I be so blind?" Drew sobbed. The dirt he sat in was spotted with tears. Each tear claimed it's own spot on the ground.

"Drew. I love you" Merrill stated as she placed her hand on Drew's shoulder.

"Merrill. I love" Drew began. But his voice was but off as Merrill awoke. She found she had tears on her face. She quickly whipped them away and opened her coffin. Marty was sitting on the table in the middle of all the coffins. He looked solemn but normal.

"Morning" Marty said cheerfully.

"Yea. Morning" Merrill said as she saw the moon through the opening of the roof.

"Drew's looking for ya" Essie said as she walked into the room.

"Where is he?" Merrill asked.

"In the library"

"Okay"

Merrill walked quickly to the library. Did Drew somehow know? No. that isn't possible. is it? Oh I hope he doesn't know. She swung open the library doors and walked in. Drew was sitting at the table. He looked like he had been deep in though.

"You. umm, wanted to see me?" Merrill asked weakly.

"Yea.Merrill. There is something I need to tell you" Drew started.

Merrill took a seat across from Drew at the table.

"What is it?" Merrill asked.

"Merrill. I. I love you. How could I have been so blind? I loved you ever since. I only liked Sherry to see if that was love I was feeling! Every time I was with Sherry I thought about you until it drove me mad"

"Drew. I. I love you too!"

"Merrill, I'm sorry"

"Why?"

"For being so stupid and blind. I couldn't come to terms with myself"

"Drew. it's okay. Love isn't easy"

And with that there was a short pause. Then Drew leaned towards Merrill. Merrill smiled slightly and leaned towards Drew. They met in the middle of the table. They kissed a deep kiss. Their first.

Merrill was happy. It was like a dream.

Nothing could ruin this moment for her.

Merrill realized that patients could solve anything.
