Money is a powerful thing. People are greedy. Humans will do almost anything for it but only if they get to keep it, to spend their way. I've always said almost because people wouldn't kill themselves for it. What would be the point? There would only be one if they didn't want it for himself and people don't go that far for others, especially not for money.
Tessa did a lot for money. She not only ruined her professional and personal lives for it she ruined her ideals. I believe she had to systematically break down her principals to do what she did. Now there's not much left of her. She runs a business but it's only just afloat. She's ruthless and she's wealthy. Unlike most she's happy.
Fortunately I don't know many people like her. Money, although very handy, has never been high on my list of things that make me happy.
Power is a persuasive thing. People like power, but absolute power corrupts. A lot of people will go to a lot of lengths to get power. There are too many politicians for everyone to have as much power as they want. Powerful people are often horrible people, and terrible human beings.
Oliver was corrupted by power. He always has been even in Oxford he was president of this and that so he could abuse his position. I believe he would never have had enough power for his likes. It seems to be addictive. I sometimes find myself wanting more; lately I wish I had more power than I do. But then I look at the people I know who are powerful and I see that most of them are not the kind of people I like. I often wonder if I would be the same person if I had the power I wanted but I keep coming back to it. Power corrupts.
Love is a blinding thing. People will do anything for love. And I mean anything. People give up everything for the people they love. I've seen mothers shield their children when some one wields a gun at them, I've seen children take on fights they know they can't win for their parents and I've seen men and women sacrifice everything for their partner.
I've even attempted to do it myself. But failed. I've had some one do it for me and I'd wish the rest of my life away if I could change that. She would have worked it out if she'd had more time but the other vices of life seem to be more important to the people who have money and power. They lie and they cheat and they kill innocent people. They have taken away the most precious thing and I wonder how they olive with themselves. I know how its because they don't understand the concept of loving some one more than life itself.
I'm going to prove to these people that love does conquer all.
