Epilogue
She was addicted to the Matrix. Tashera, taken out of the Matrix from infancy, could not live without being plugged in for hours at a time. She was part of a special breed of humans. The machines had implanted in the children a chip that had to always be on during their life. The only place to recharge the chip was when one was in the Matrix. No other simulation would work, for it was a secret code that made it work, and it was guarded heavily by the machines. The machines made sure to plant these human babies the farthest away from the plantations since they wanted to make it easier to the humans of Zion to take them out. They wanted to create chaos within the human realm. Unknowingly, the humans took advantage of the strategic value of the babies and decided to go and take them out of the Matrix. After a few days of being out of the Matrix, about half of the babies died from a cause unknown to the humans. It took many autopsies and lives before the chip was found. They could not remove the chip, since it was too close to a major artery of the brain. After a month of hacking in the chip, it was found out by accident that the babies needed to live in the Matrix for certain amounts of time every week to survive. Immediately there was a ship constructed for the carrying of the babies that had been taken out of their pods. It was called Methuselah, manned by an almost skeletal crew who made sure that the babies would mature to full adult bodies. The oldest of the children was Tashera. She was 17 when she was taken out of the Methuselah, and introduced to the people of Zion. Thousands of people gathered to see this miracle child. There was feasting for three days for the girl. At the end of the third day she had to be plugged back into the Matrix. When in the Matrix, she was under heavy guard by programs One and Two, the most defensive programs Zion had against the Matrix. What made them so special was that they could mask the signature of Tashera so that she could hide from the programs made to hunt down any member of Zion. She became quite an interest of the Oracle, who asked to see her many times, for cups of tea and candy. Tashera often stayed in the apartment of the Oracle, almost like a permanent resident, for she had her own special room next to the Oracle's. The Oracle found her not unlike the prophesized One. She told Morpheus about it, and he was quite surprised. But she made sure to tell him that she was not the One. But she did have a part in the Prophesy. She did not tell him what, since it would come in time. This is her story, of how she was able to help the One, and what she had to do to get to him.
