To Love the Moon

We've all been taught at a very early age to love the sun and fear the moon.

But I don't fear the moon. I love it, like I love the sun and the stars. In my eyes, the moon is nothing to fear. Nothing at all.

I learned that we don't truly fear the moon. It is only an excuse because our real fear seems childish. What we really fear is darkness. Darkness and death. Confusion. Blindness. These are the things we fear.

But darkness can never die. This is a simple fact. We try to kill the darkness and rise above it with our power. In the end, however, we will fail. The Fire Nation will fall. The sun will be blacked out. Forever.

I have predicted these moves. I know what the Fire Lord has planned. No matter how much power one may have, our fear is still there, eating away at us from inside.

Lord Ozai hates the moon. He hates the moon with all his heart. The hate consumed his soul, turning it black. The only emotions left were anger and pure hate. Compassion was gone.

His daughter shares the same hatred of the moon and obsession with the sun. His son once suffered the same hate as well. But the Fire Prince is learning now. Learning to be better, nicer.

Learning to love the moon.

Author's Notes:

I wrote this in my binder at eleven o'clock Sunday night a couple of days ago. I only just uploaded it now because I forgot about it...It's quite short, I'm sorry, I'm trying to make my one-shots longer…

It's told in the point of view of a nameless Firebending civilian. Maybe he's a soldier, because he's so familiar with Lord Ozai's plans? Who knows –shrugs nonchalantly-

I'm really sorry if anyone doesn't like it or if it didn't make sense or if it's too short...In fact, it's so incredibly short, I'd be surprised if someone actually did like it!

Oh yeah, and it was inspired by the quote "we don't fear death, just the darkness and uncertainty that comes with it". I forgot who said that, though...

Also inspired by the episode twenty-two, I think, "Siege of the North Part Two".
