Times were troubling at Powers Brothers Aviation. Workers were not making parts up to standards, the company was close to going bankrupt after bigger airplane companies are getting government contracts. Due to this theory, the rumor of moving the company to Mexico was highly likely.

The rumors started when Ernie walked into Thirsty's one evening. Ernie ordered a drink and sat at the bar. Nearby sat Jack Powers talking to somebody on his cell phone. This is what Ernie overhears:

"The company is losing money. The company is gonna go bankrupt soon. The company hasn't been in the red since 9/11. I don't know what to do. I might as well move to company to Mexico."

Ernie's eyes bulged wide open. Ernie panicked, slammed down his drink and ran out the door before he could hear Jack say anything else. Benny was at her car, smoking a cigarette and saw Ernie run past her to his car yelling "The company is moving to Mexico!"

Benny thought: "Jeez, another Mexico rumor. Typical Ernie." Benny walked into Thirsty's without thinking of it.

Ernie got back to his apartment and dialed George's number into his phone. He waited until someone picked up:

"Hello?" Angie answered. "Hey Angie can I speak to George? It's very serious!"

Ernie waited until George got on the phone and this is what George said:

"Hey Ernie what's up? What? The company is moving to Mexico? Ernie, every few years you assume 'the company is moving to Mexico.' Ta loco moving to Mexico!"

George hung up the phone and heard Angie ask him "What was that all about?"

"Oh, Ernie thinks the company is moving to Mexico. I don't think it is, he comes up with that assumption every few years."

"Well, how has the company been doing?" Angie asks curiously.

"Not too good. Workers haven't been making parts up to standard and other big companies have been beating us out for government contracts. You know Angie, what if this really happens? What are we going to do?"

Angie replied saying "I think we'll be ok." Angie gave him a kiss and they both went up to bed.

Ernie spent some of the night leaving messages and calling co-workers stating that the company is moving to Mexico. "I could hear Jack talking about moving the company to Mexico at Thirsty's. Be prepared tomorrow or the next few days." This wasn't the first time Ernie thought the company was moving to Mexico. He thought of it Post-9/11 as well, when PBA lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ernie left the last call, watched the last innings of the Dodger game, and went to bed.

Both George and Ernie could not sleep well that night, tossing and turning about the thought that their jobs could be in jeopardy. They both woke up the next morning, very nervous about what could go down at Power Brothers Aviation.

Anyways, that is the end of chapter one. Please tell me if you like it, and another chapter will be coming out soon.
