A/N: This story built this morning as soon as I woke up. Hope you like it!

Severus Snape, a loner by anyone's standards, was silently drunk and getting steadily worse.

Ever since Lily had died, he felt no more pain; it was almost as if a part of him had died along with her.

He jumped as a hand fell on his shoulder. He looked up into the usually twinkling blue eyes of Albus Dumbledore.

"I know you are perhaps feeling more pain throughout all this than anyone else I happen to know, but you have to live, if not for yourself, then for her son." Dumbledore gently took the firewhiskey from Severus's listless hands.

Severus looked at his empty hands, feeling less secure about this decision with the firewhiskey than when he had been sober.

He sighed and stood up, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over him.

Dumbledore reached out a hand to steady him, but he didn't need it. The dizziness attack was gone even before Dumbledore's hand.

He straightened his back and walked as steadily as possible to the door.

"I may be feeling pain, but I'm no longer alive; I probably would have been," Dumbledore heard him say, "but, if possible, I will help bring down the man who killed her."

A/N: I know it's short, but I'm still working on the new chapter for Stars In Her Eyes which should be up soon. In the meantime, please review!
